1 Au commencement de la 1e semaine du 29e jubilé, Arpachshad prit pour lui une femme et son nom était Rasueja, fille de Susan la fille d’Elam, et dans la 3e année de cette semaine elle lui porta un fils et il appela son nom Kainam.
2 Et le fils grandit et son père lui apprit à écrire et il alla se chercher un endroit pour se mesurer une ville et il trouva un écrit que les [générations] précédentes avait gravé sur le roc et il lut ce qu’il y avait dessus et le retranscrit et pécha à cause de cela, car il contenait l’enseignement des vigiles suivant ce qu’ils faisaient pour observer les signes du soleil, de la lune et des étoiles dans tous les signes du ciel.
3 Et il écrivit cela et ne dit rien à ce sujet, car il avait peur d’en parler à Noah et qu’il devienne en colère contre lui à cause de cela.
4 Et dans la 1e année de la 2e semaine du 30e jubilé, il prit pour lui une femme et son nom était Melka, fille de Madai le fils de Japheth, et dans la 4e année il eut un fils et appela son nom Shelah, car [dans la 4e année qu’il fut né], il dit : Vraiment j’ai été envoyé.
5 Et Shelah grandit et dans la 1e année de la 5e semaine du 31e jubilé, il prit pour lui une femme et son nom était Muak, fille de Kesed le frère de son père, et dans la 5e année elle lui porta un fils et il appela son nom Eber.
6 Et dans la 3e année de la 7e semaine du 32e jubilé, il prit pour lui une femme et son nom était Azurad, fille de Nebrod, et dans la 6e année elle lui porta un fils et il appela son nom Peleg. Car dans les jours de sa naissance, les enfants de Noah commencèrent à diviser la terre entre eux, pour cette raison il appela son nom Peleg.
7 Et ils [la] divisèrent secrètement entre eux et le dirent à Noah, et cela arriva au commencement de la 1e année de la 1e semaine du 33e jubilé, ils divisèrent la terre en 3 parts entre Shem et Ham et Japheth selon l’héritage de chacun alors qu’un d’entre nous qui avait été envoyé était avec eux.
8 Et il appela ses fils et ils s’approchèrent de lui, eux et leurs enfants, et il divisa la terre en lots pour que ses 3 enfants en prennent possession. Et ils tendirent leurs mains et prirent l’écrit du sein de Noah leur père.
9 Et sur l’écrit, le lot que Shem pouvait prendre en héritage, pour lui et ses fils dans les générations d’éternité, échut au centre de la terre à partir du centre de la chaine de montagnes de Rafa à l’entrée d’eau de la rivière Tina et sa part s’étend vers l’OUEST et traverse le milieu de cette rivière et s’étend jusqu’à atteindre l’eau des abîmes de laquelle cette rivière sort et verse ses eaux dans la mer Meat et cette rivière se déverse dans la Grande mer.
10 Et tout ce qui était vers le NORD est à Japheth et tout ce qui est vers le SUD revient à Shem.
11 Et sa part va jusqu’à Karaso ; ceci est l’embranchement de la langue qui regarde vers le SUD,
12 et sa part s’étend le long de la Grande mer et s’étend en ligne droite jusqu’à atteindre l’OUEST de la péninsule qui regarde le SUD, car cette mer est nommée la péninsule de la mer égyptienne,
13 et de là tourne vers le SUD vers l’entrée de la Grande mer au rivage de [ses] eaux et s’étend jusqu’à atteindre l’OUEST d’Afra, et s’étend jusqu’à atteindre les eaux de la rivière Gihon,
14 et vers le SUD des eaux de Gihon jusqu’aux réservoirs de cette rivière et s’étend vers l’EST jusqu’à atteindre le SUD du jardin d’Éden, [au SUD] et à l’EST de tout le pays d’Éden, tout l’EST, et tourne vers l’EST et avance jusqu’à atteindre l’EST de la montagne nommé Rafa
15 et descends vers le réservoir d’entrée de la rivière Tina. Cette part échue au lot de Shem et ses fils pour qu’ils la possèdent à toujours pour ses descendants à jamais.
16 Et Noah se réjouit que cette part aille à Shem et à ses fils et il se rappela tout ce qu’il avait prophétisé par sa bouche, car il avait dit : Béni soit 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) Elohim de Shem et que le seigneur habite dans la maison de Shem.
17 Et il savait que le jardin d’Éden est le saint des saints et l’habitation de 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) et le mont Sinaï le centre du désert, et le mont Zion le centre du nombril de la terre ; ces 3 ont été créés l’un face à l’autre comme des endroits saints.
18 Et il bénit l'Elohim des elohim qui avait mis la parole de 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) dans sa bouche, et 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) pour toujours.
19 Et il sut qu’une part bénie et qu’une bénédiction étaient venues sur Shem et ses fils pour les générations à jamais - le pays entier d’Éden et tout le pays de la mer Rouge et tout le pays de l’EST et Inde et sur la mer Rouge et dans les montagnes, et tout le pays de Bashan et tout le pays du Liban et les îles de Kaftur, et toutes les montagnes de Sanir et Amana et les montagnes de Asshur au NORD et tout le pays de Elam, Asshur et Babel et Susan, et Maedai et toutes les montagnes d’Ararat et toute la région devant la mer qui est devant les montagnes d’Asshur vers le NORD, un pays béni et spacieux , et tout ce qui est là est très bon.
10 Et tout ce qui était vers le NORD est à Japheth et tout ce qui est vers le SUD revient à Shem.

19 Et il sut qu’une part bénie et qu’une bénédiction étaient venues sur Shem et ses fils pour les générations à jamais - le pays entier d’Éden et tout le pays de la mer Rouge et tout le pays de l’EST et Inde et sur la mer Rouge et dans les montagnes, et tout le pays de Bashan et tout le pays du Liban et les îles de Kaftur, et toutes les montagnes de Sanir et Amana et les montagnes de Asshur au NORD et tout le pays de Elam, Asshur et Babel et Susan, et Maedai et toutes les montagnes d’Ararat et toute la région devant la mer qui est devant les montagnes d’Asshur vers le NORD, un pays béni et spacieux , et tout ce qui est là est très bon.
20 Et la 2e part de Ham allait au-delà du Gihon vers le SUD à droite du jardin et s’étend vers le SUD et s’étend en direction de toutes les montagnes de feu et s’étend vers l’OUEST jusqu’à la mer d’Atel et s’étend vers l’OUEST jusqu’à atteindre la mer de Mauk, cette [mer] dans laquelle toute chose qui n’est pas détruite descends. Et elle va vers le NORD aux limites de Gadir et va vers la côte des eaux de la mer vers les eaux de la grande mer jusqu’à arriver près de la rivière Gihon, et va le long de la rivière Gihon jusqu’à atteindre la droite du jardin d’Éden ; et ceci est le pays qui revint à Ham comme la portion qu’il allait occuper à toujours pour lui et ses fils, pour leurs descendants à jamais.
21 Et la 3e part de Japheth allait devant la rivière Tina vers le NORD du déversement de ses eaux et s’étend au NORD-EST jusqu’à la région entière de Gog et dans le pays entier de l’EST Et s’étend du NORD vers le NORD et s’étend aux montagnes de Qelt vers le NORD et vers la mer de Mauk et elle va à l’EST de Gadir aussi loin que la région des eaux de la mer. Et elle s’étend jusqu’à approcher l’OUEST de Fara et retourne vers Aferag et s’étend à l’EST vers les eaux de la mer de Meat. Et elle s’étend vers la région de la rivière Tina en direction NORD-EST jusqu’à approcher la frontière de ses eaux vers la montagne Rafa et tourne autour vers le NORD ; ceci est la terre qui allait pour Japheth et ses fils comme la part de son héritage qu’il devra posséder pour lui et ses fils, pour leurs descendants à jamais : 5 grandes îles et un grand pays au NORD.
22Mais c’est froid (la terre de Japheth) et le pays de Ham est chaud, et le pays de Shem n’est ni chaud, ni froid, mais il est mélangé froid et chaud.

וביובל התשעה ועשרים בשבוע הראשון בשנה הראשונה לקח לו ארפכשד אשה ושמה רצויה בת שושנה בת עילם לו לאשה:
In the twenty-ninth jubilee, in the first week, in the beginning thereof Arpachshad took to himself a wife and her name was Râsû’ĕjâ, [the daughter of Sûsân,] the daughter of Elam,
ותלד לו בן בשנה השלישית לשבוע הזה ויקרא את שמו קינם:
and she bare him a son in the third year in this week, and he called his name Kâinâm.
ויגדל בנו וילמדהו אביו ספר וילך לבקש לו מקום לבנות לו שם עיר מושב:
And the son grew, and his father taught him writing, and he went to seek for himself a place where he might seize for himself a city.
וימצא כתובת אשר פיתחו האבות הראשונים על אבן ויקרא את החרות עליה ויעתיקה וימצא בה חותם תכנית המדע אשר הורו השומרים:
And he found a writing which former (generations) had carved on the rock, and he read what was thereon, and he transcribed it and sinned owing to it; for it contained the teaching of the Watchers in accordance with which they used to observe
מרכבת השמש והירח והכוכבים ועל כל אותות השמים:
the omens of the sun and moon and stars in all the signs of heaven.
ויכתבה בספר ולא הגיד מאומה מכל הדבר כי ירא להגיד אותו לנוח פן יקצוף עליו:
And he wrote it down and said nothing regarding it; for he was afraid to speak to Noah about it lest he should be angry with him on account of it.
וביובל השלושים בשבוע השני בשנה הראשונה בו לקח לו אשה ושמה מלכה בת מדי בן יפת:
And in the thirtieth jubilee, in the second week, in the first year thereof, he took to himself a wife, and her name was Mêlkâ, the daughter of Madai, the son of Japheth,
ובשנה הרביעית ילדה לו בן ויקרא את שמו שלח כי אמר שולח שולחתי:
and in the fourth year he begat a son, and called his name Shelah; for he said: "Truly I have been sent."
בשנה הרביעית נולד שלח ויגדל ויקח לו אשה ושמה מעכה בת כשד אחי אביו לו לאשה:
[And in the fourth year he was born], and Shelah grew up and took to himself a wife, and her name was Mû’ak, the daughter of Kêsêd, his father's brother,
וביובל בשבוע החמישי בשנה הראשונה ילדה לו בן ויקרא את שמו עבר:
in the one and thirtieth jubilee, in the fifth week, in the first year thereof.
And she bare him a son in the fifth year thereof, and he called his name Eber:
ויקח לו אשה ושמה עצורת בת נברוד ביובל השנים ושלושים בשבוע השביעי בשנה השלישית:
and he took unto himself a wife, and her name was ’Azûrâd the daughter of Nêbrôd, in the thirty-second jubilee, in the seventh week, in the third year thereof.
ובשנה השישית ילדה לו בן ויקרא את שמו פלג:
And in the sixth year thereof, she bare him a son, and he called his name Peleg;
כי בימי הולדו הואילו בני נוח לפלוג את הארץ ביניהם על כן קרא את שמו פלג:
for in the days when he was born the children of Noah began to divide the earth amongst themselves: for this reason he called his name Peleg.
אבל לא נפלגה אל נכון ביניהם ויוגד הדבר אל נח:
And they divided (it) secretly amongst themselves, and told it to Noah.
ובראשית יובל השלושה ושלושים התחלקו את הארץ לשלושה חלקים לשם לחם וליפת לפי נחלתם בשנה הראשונה לשבוע הראשון לעיני אחד המלאכים מאתנו אשר נשלחו אליהם:
And it came to pass in the beginning of the thirty-third jubilee that they divided the earth into three parts, for Shem and Ham and Japheth, according to the inheritance of each, in the first year in the first week, when one of us, who had been sent, was with them.
ויקרא אל בניו ויקרבו אליו הם ובניהם ויחלק את הארץ בגורל את אשר ינחלו שלושת בניו:
And he called his sons, and they drew nigh to him, they and their children, and he divided the earth into the lots, which his three sons were to take in possession,
ויפרשו את כפיהם ויקחו את הגורלות מחיק אביהם נוח:
and they reached forth their hands, and took the writing out of the bosom of Noah, their father.
ויצא הגורל לשם תוך הארץ לנחלתו לבניו ולזרעם עד עולם מטבור ההר רָפָא מקום אשד הנחל תונה:
And there came forth on the writing as Shem's lot the middle of the earth which he should take as an inheritance for himself and for his sons for the generations of eternity, from the middle of the mountain range of Râfâ, from the mouth of the water from the river Tînâ.
ויהי גבול נחלתו לפאת ימה בתוך הנחל ההוא וירד עד לבוא בריכת המים הוא מעין מי הנחל הזה:
and his portion goeth towards the west through the midst of this river, and it extendeth till it reacheth the water of the abysses, out of which this river goeth forth
ואשד מימי הנחל הזה בים מֵיאוט והיו תוצאותיו עד הים הגדול:
and poureth its waters into the sea Mê’at, and this river floweth into the great sea.
כל אשר מצפון ליפת וכל אשר לירכתו נגבה היה לשם ויצא עד לבוא קרסו הוא חיק הלשון הפונה נגבה:
And all that is towards the north is Japheth's, and all that is towards the south belongeth to Shem.
And it extendeth till it reacheth Kârâsô: this is in the bosom of the tongue which looketh towards the south.
ועבר משם גבול נחלתו אל כתף הים הגדול והלך נכחו עד בואו לעבר הלשון מבוא השמש הנשקף נגבה:
And his portion extendeth along the great sea, and it extendeth in a straight line till it reacheth the west of the tongue which looketh towards the south;
ושם הים ההוא לשון ים מצרים:
for this sea is named the tongue of the Egyptian Sea.
וירד משם נגבה מול אשדות הים הגדול ומחה על כתף המים ועבר מול ארץ ערב אופירה:
And it turneth from here towards the south towards the mouth of the great sea on the shore of (its) waters, and it extendeth to the west to ‘Afrâ
ועבר הלאה עד קרבו אל מי הנהר גיחון ותאר מנגב למי גיחון לחוף הנהר הזה ועבר קדמה עד קרבו לגן עדן נגבה לנגב וממזרח כל ארץ עדן ולכל המזרח:
and it extendeth till it reacheth the waters of the river Gihon, and to the south of the waters of Gihon, to the banks of this river.
And it extendeth towards the east, till it reacheth the Garden of Eden, to the south thereof, [to the south] and from the east of the whole land of Eden and of the whole cast, it turneth to the east,
ונסב משם קדמה ועלה עד הגיעו אל קדמת ההר רפה וירד מול חוף שפך הנחל תינה:
and proceedeth till it reacheth the east of the mountain named Râfâ, and it descendeth to the bank of the mouth of the river Tînâ.
זאת הנחלה אשר יצאה בגורל לשם ולבניו לרשת אותה עד עולם לו ולזרעו עד עולם:
This portion came forth by lot for Shem and his sons, that they should possess it for ever unto his generations for evermore.
וישמח נוח כי יצאה הנחלה הזאת לשם ולבניו ויזכור את כל אשר דיבר בפיו בהתנבאו לאמור:
And Noah rejoiced that this portion came forth for Shem and for his sons, and he remembered all that he had spoken with his mouth in prophecy; for he had said:
ברוך ה' אלהי שם וישכון ה' באהלי שם:
Blessed be the Lord God of Shem, And may the Lord dwell in the dwelling of Shem."
וידע כי גן עדן הוא קודש הקודשים ומשכן ה' וכי הר ציון אשר בתוך המדבר והר סיני אשר בתוך טבור הארץ שלושתם איש נכח אחיו נבראו למקדשי הארץ:
And he knew that the Garden of Eden is the holy of holies, and the dwelling of the Lord, and Mount Sinai the centre of the desert, and Mount Zion--the centre of the navel of the earth: these three were created as holy places facing each other.
ויברך את אלהי האלהים אשר שם את דבר ה' בפיהו:
And he blessed the God of gods, who had put the word of the Lord into his mouth, and the Lord for evermore.
וידע כי נחלה מבורכת ומאושרת נפלה בחבל שם ובניו לדורות עולם:
And he knew that a blessed portion and a blessing had come to Shem and his sons unto the generations for ever-
היא כל אורך הים ארתרה וכל ארץ הקדם וארץ הודו והריה וכל ארץ בלע וכל ארץ הלבנון ואיי כפתור וכל הררי שניר ואמנה:
-the whole land of Eden and the whole land of the Red Sea, and the whole land of the east, and India, and on the Red Sea and the mountains thereof, and all the land of Bashan, and all the land of Lebanon and the islands of Kaftûr, and all the mountains of Sanîr and ’Amânâ,
והררי אשור לפאת צפונה וכל ארץ עילם אשור ובבל ושושן ומדי וכל ארץ אררט:
and the mountains of Asshur in the north, and all the land of Elam, Asshur, and Bâbêl, and Sûsân and Mâ‘ĕdâi and all the mountains of Ararat,
וכל הארץ מעבר לים אשר מעבר להררי אשור צפונה ארץ מבורכת ורחבת ידיים וכל אשר בה טוב מאוד:
and all the region beyond the sea, which is beyond the mountains of Asshur towards the north, a blessed and spacious land, and all that is in it is very good.
ולְחָם יצא הגורל השני מעבר לגיחון דרומה מימין הגן ועבר נגב תימנה:
And for Ham came forth the second portion, beyond the Gihon towards the south to the right of the Garden, and it extendeth towards the south
ועבר הלאה עד הרי האש ונסב ימה לפאת ים אטיל והלך ימה עד לבוא ים המזרק הוא הים אשר כל יורד בו לא יעלה לנצח:
and it extendeth to all the mountains of fire, and it extendeth towards the west to the sea of ’Atêl and it extendeth towards the west till it reacheth the sea of Mâ’ûk --that (sea) into which everything which is not destroyed descendeth.
ותאר הגבול צפונה מקצה גדית ומחה על כתף חוף הים מעבר השני לים הגדול עד קרבו אל נהר גיחון מימין גן העדן:
And it goeth forth towards the north to the limits of Gâdîr, and it goeth forth to the coast of the waters of the sea to the waters of the great sea till it draweth near to the river Gihon, and goeth along the river Gihon till it reacheth the right of the Garden of Eden.
וזאת הארץ אשר עלתה בגורל חם לנחלה לרשתה עד עולם לו ולבניו לדורותיהם עד עולם:
And this is the land which came forth for Ham as the portion which he was to occupy for ever for himself and his sons unto their generations for ever.
היא כל אורך הים ארתרה וכל ארץ הקדם וארץ הודו והריה וכל ארץ בלע וכל ארץ הלבנון ואיי כפתור וכל הררי שניר ואמנה:
-the whole land of Eden and the whole land of the Red Sea, and the whole land of the east, and India, and on the Red Sea and the mountains thereof, and all the land of Bashan, and all the land of Lebanon and the islands of Kaftûr, and all the mountains of Sanîr and ’Amânâ,
והררי אשור לפאת צפונה וכל ארץ עילם אשור ובבל ושושן ומדי וכל ארץ אררט:
and the mountains of Asshur in the north, and all the land of Elam, Asshur, and Bâbêl, and Sûsân and Mâ‘ĕdâi and all the mountains of Ararat,
וכל הארץ מעבר לים אשר מעבר להררי אשור צפונה ארץ מבורכת ורחבת ידיים וכל אשר בה טוב מאוד:

and it extendeth to all the mountains of fire, and it extendeth towards the west to the sea of ’Atêl and it extendeth towards the west till it reacheth the sea of Mâ’ûk --that (sea) into which everything which is not destroyed descendeth.

וזאת הארץ אשר עלתה בגורל חם לנחלה לרשתה עד עולם לו ולבניו לדורותיהם עד עולם:
And this is the land which came forth for Ham as the portion which he was to occupy for ever for himself and his sons unto their generations for ever.
וליפת יצא הגורל השלישי מעבר לנחל תינה צפונה לאשדות מימיו ונסב לפאת צפונית מזרחית כל חבל גוג וכל ארצו מקדם:
And it goeth forth towards the north to the limits of Gâdîr, and it goeth forth to the coast of the waters of the sea to the waters of the great sea till it draweth near to the river Gihon, and goeth along the river Gihon till it reacheth the right of the Garden of Eden.
ועלה לירכתי הצפון עד הרי גילט צפונה ולכתף ים מעוג:
And it extendeth northerly to the north, and it extendeth to the mountains of Qêlt towards the north, and towards the sea of Mâ’ûk,
ונסב מקדם לגדית עד לבוא חוף הים ועבר עד קרבו מקדם לרָפָה:
and it goeth forth to the east of Gâdîr as far as the region of the waters of the sea.
And it extendeth until it approacheth the west of Fârâ
ושב ובא לעומת אפריקה ויצא קדמה מזרחה לפאת מי הים מיאת ועבר על יד הנחל תינה לאורכו נוכח קדמת הצפון עד קרבו אל גבול מימיו מול ההר רפה ונסב והלך צפונה:
and it returneth towards ’Afêrâg, and it extendeth easterly to the waters of the sea of Mê’at.
And it extendeth to the region of the river Tînâ in a northeasterly direction until it approacheth the boundary of its waters towards the mountain Râfâ, and it turneth round towards the north.
זאת הארץ אשר עלתה בגורל יפת ובניו לנחלתו לרשת עד עולם לו ולבניו לדורותיהם עד עולם:
This is the land which came forth for Japheth and his sons as the portion of his inheritance which he should possess for himself and his sons, for their generations for ever;
חמשה איים גדולים וארץ גדולה בירכתי צפון אך קרה היא וארץ חם היא חמה:
five great islands, and a great land in the north.
But it is cold, and the land of Ham is hot,
אכן לארץ שם אין חורב ולא קרח כי בה מיזג קור וחום גם יחד:
and the land of Shem is neither hot nor cold, but it is of blended cold and heat.
וביובל התשעה ועשרים בשבוע הראשון בשנה הראשונה לקח לו ארפכשד אשה ושמה רצויה בת שושנה בת עילם לו לאשה:
In the twenty-ninth jubilee, in the first week, in the beginning thereof Arpachshad took to himself a wife and her name was Râsû’ĕjâ, [the daughter of Sûsân,] the daughter of Elam,
ותלד לו בן בשנה השלישית לשבוע הזה ויקרא את שמו קינם:
and she bare him a son in the third year in this week, and he called his name Kâinâm.
ויגדל בנו וילמדהו אביו ספר וילך לבקש לו מקום לבנות לו שם עיר מושב:
And the son grew, and his father taught him writing, and he went to seek for himself a place where he might seize for himself a city.
וימצא כתובת אשר פיתחו האבות הראשונים על אבן ויקרא את החרות עליה ויעתיקה וימצא בה חותם תכנית המדע אשר הורו השומרים:
And he found a writing which former (generations) had carved on the rock, and he read what was thereon, and he transcribed it and sinned owing to it; for it contained the teaching of the Watchers in accordance with which they used to observe
מרכבת השמש והירח והכוכבים ועל כל אותות השמים:
the omens of the sun and moon and stars in all the signs of heaven.
ויכתבה בספר ולא הגיד מאומה מכל הדבר כי ירא להגיד אותו לנוח פן יקצוף עליו:
And he wrote it down and said nothing regarding it; for he was afraid to speak to Noah about it lest he should be angry with him on account of it.
וביובל השלושים בשבוע השני בשנה הראשונה בו לקח לו אשה ושמה מלכה בת מדי בן יפת:
And in the thirtieth jubilee, in the second week, in the first year thereof, he took to himself a wife, and her name was Mêlkâ, the daughter of Madai, the son of Japheth,
ובשנה הרביעית ילדה לו בן ויקרא את שמו שלח כי אמר שולח שולחתי:
and in the fourth year he begat a son, and called his name Shelah; for he said: "Truly I have been sent."
בשנה הרביעית נולד שלח ויגדל ויקח לו אשה ושמה מעכה בת כשד אחי אביו לו לאשה:
[And in the fourth year he was born], and Shelah grew up and took to himself a wife, and her name was Mû’ak, the daughter of Kêsêd, his father's brother,
וביובל בשבוע החמישי בשנה הראשונה ילדה לו בן ויקרא את שמו עבר:
in the one and thirtieth jubilee, in the fifth week, in the first year thereof.
And she bare him a son in the fifth year thereof, and he called his name Eber:
And she bare him a son in the fifth year thereof, and he called his name Eber:
ויקח לו אשה ושמה עצורת בת נברוד ביובל השנים ושלושים בשבוע השביעי בשנה השלישית:
and he took unto himself a wife, and her name was ’Azûrâd the daughter of Nêbrôd, in the thirty-second jubilee, in the seventh week, in the third year thereof.
ובשנה השישית ילדה לו בן ויקרא את שמו פלג:
And in the sixth year thereof, she bare him a son, and he called his name Peleg;
כי בימי הולדו הואילו בני נוח לפלוג את הארץ ביניהם על כן קרא את שמו פלג:
for in the days when he was born the children of Noah began to divide the earth amongst themselves: for this reason he called his name Peleg.
אבל לא נפלגה אל נכון ביניהם ויוגד הדבר אל נח:
And they divided (it) secretly amongst themselves, and told it to Noah.
ובראשית יובל השלושה ושלושים התחלקו את הארץ לשלושה חלקים לשם לחם וליפת לפי נחלתם בשנה הראשונה לשבוע הראשון לעיני אחד המלאכים מאתנו אשר נשלחו אליהם:
And it came to pass in the beginning of the thirty-third jubilee that they divided the earth into three parts, for Shem and Ham and Japheth, according to the inheritance of each, in the first year in the first week, when one of us, who had been sent, was with them.
ויקרא אל בניו ויקרבו אליו הם ובניהם ויחלק את הארץ בגורל את אשר ינחלו שלושת בניו:
And he called his sons, and they drew nigh to him, they and their children, and he divided the earth into the lots, which his three sons were to take in possession,
ויפרשו את כפיהם ויקחו את הגורלות מחיק אביהם נוח:
and they reached forth their hands, and took the writing out of the bosom of Noah, their father.
ויצא הגורל לשם תוך הארץ לנחלתו לבניו ולזרעם עד עולם מטבור ההר רָפָא מקום אשד הנחל תונה:
And there came forth on the writing as Shem's lot the middle of the earth which he should take as an inheritance for himself and for his sons for the generations of eternity, from the middle of the mountain range of Râfâ, from the mouth of the water from the river Tînâ.
ויהי גבול נחלתו לפאת ימה בתוך הנחל ההוא וירד עד לבוא בריכת המים הוא מעין מי הנחל הזה:
and his portion goeth towards the west through the midst of this river, and it extendeth till it reacheth the water of the abysses, out of which this river goeth forth
ואשד מימי הנחל הזה בים מֵיאוט והיו תוצאותיו עד הים הגדול:
and poureth its waters into the sea Mê’at, and this river floweth into the great sea.
כל אשר מצפון ליפת וכל אשר לירכתו נגבה היה לשם ויצא עד לבוא קרסו הוא חיק הלשון הפונה נגבה:
And all that is towards the north is Japheth's, and all that is towards the south belongeth to Shem.
And it extendeth till it reacheth Kârâsô: this is in the bosom of the tongue which looketh towards the south.

ועבר משם גבול נחלתו אל כתף הים הגדול והלך נכחו עד בואו לעבר הלשון מבוא השמש הנשקף נגבה:
And his portion extendeth along the great sea, and it extendeth in a straight line till it reacheth the west of the tongue which looketh towards the south;
ושם הים ההוא לשון ים מצרים:
for this sea is named the tongue of the Egyptian Sea.
וירד משם נגבה מול אשדות הים הגדול ומחה על כתף המים ועבר מול ארץ ערב אופירה:
And it turneth from here towards the south towards the mouth of the great sea on the shore of (its) waters, and it extendeth to the west to ‘Afrâ
ועבר הלאה עד קרבו אל מי הנהר גיחון ותאר מנגב למי גיחון לחוף הנהר הזה ועבר קדמה עד קרבו לגן עדן נגבה לנגב וממזרח כל ארץ עדן ולכל המזרח:
and it extendeth till it reacheth the waters of the river Gihon, and to the south of the waters of Gihon, to the banks of this river.
And it extendeth towards the east, till it reacheth the Garden of Eden, to the south thereof, [to the south] and from the east of the whole land of Eden and of the whole cast, it turneth to the east,
And it extendeth towards the east, till it reacheth the Garden of Eden, to the south thereof, [to the south] and from the east of the whole land of Eden and of the whole cast, it turneth to the east,
ונסב משם קדמה ועלה עד הגיעו אל קדמת ההר רפה וירד מול חוף שפך הנחל תינה:
and proceedeth till it reacheth the east of the mountain named Râfâ, and it descendeth to the bank of the mouth of the river Tînâ.
זאת הנחלה אשר יצאה בגורל לשם ולבניו לרשת אותה עד עולם לו ולזרעו עד עולם:
This portion came forth by lot for Shem and his sons, that they should possess it for ever unto his generations for evermore.
וישמח נוח כי יצאה הנחלה הזאת לשם ולבניו ויזכור את כל אשר דיבר בפיו בהתנבאו לאמור:
And Noah rejoiced that this portion came forth for Shem and for his sons, and he remembered all that he had spoken with his mouth in prophecy; for he had said:
ברוך ה' אלהי שם וישכון ה' באהלי שם:
Blessed be the Lord God of Shem, And may the Lord dwell in the dwelling of Shem."
וידע כי גן עדן הוא קודש הקודשים ומשכן ה' וכי הר ציון אשר בתוך המדבר והר סיני אשר בתוך טבור הארץ שלושתם איש נכח אחיו נבראו למקדשי הארץ:
And he knew that the Garden of Eden is the holy of holies, and the dwelling of the Lord, and Mount Sinai the centre of the desert, and Mount Zion--the centre of the navel of the earth: these three were created as holy places facing each other.
ויברך את אלהי האלהים אשר שם את דבר ה' בפיהו:
And he blessed the God of gods, who had put the word of the Lord into his mouth, and the Lord for evermore.
וידע כי נחלה מבורכת ומאושרת נפלה בחבל שם ובניו לדורות עולם:
And he knew that a blessed portion and a blessing had come to Shem and his sons unto the generations for ever-
היא כל אורך הים ארתרה וכל ארץ הקדם וארץ הודו והריה וכל ארץ בלע וכל ארץ הלבנון ואיי כפתור וכל הררי שניר ואמנה:
-the whole land of Eden and the whole land of the Red Sea, and the whole land of the east, and India, and on the Red Sea and the mountains thereof, and all the land of Bashan, and all the land of Lebanon and the islands of Kaftûr, and all the mountains of Sanîr and ’Amânâ,
והררי אשור לפאת צפונה וכל ארץ עילם אשור ובבל ושושן ומדי וכל ארץ אררט:
and the mountains of Asshur in the north, and all the land of Elam, Asshur, and Bâbêl, and Sûsân and Mâ‘ĕdâi and all the mountains of Ararat,
וכל הארץ מעבר לים אשר מעבר להררי אשור צפונה ארץ מבורכת ורחבת ידיים וכל אשר בה טוב מאוד:
and all the region beyond the sea, which is beyond the mountains of Asshur towards the north, a blessed and spacious land, and all that is in it is very good.
ולְחָם יצא הגורל השני מעבר לגיחון דרומה מימין הגן ועבר נגב תימנה:
And for Ham came forth the second portion, beyond the Gihon towards the south to the right of the Garden, and it extendeth towards the south
ועבר הלאה עד הרי האש ונסב ימה לפאת ים אטיל והלך ימה עד לבוא ים המזרק הוא הים אשר כל יורד בו לא יעלה לנצח:
and it extendeth to all the mountains of fire, and it extendeth towards the west to the sea of ’Atêl and it extendeth towards the west till it reacheth the sea of Mâ’ûk --that (sea) into which everything which is not destroyed descendeth.
ותאר הגבול צפונה מקצה גדית ומחה על כתף חוף הים מעבר השני לים הגדול עד קרבו אל נהר גיחון מימין גן העדן:
And it goeth forth towards the north to the limits of Gâdîr, and it goeth forth to the coast of the waters of the sea to the waters of the great sea till it draweth near to the river Gihon, and goeth along the river Gihon till it reacheth the right of the Garden of Eden.
וזאת הארץ אשר עלתה בגורל חם לנחלה לרשתה עד עולם לו ולבניו לדורותיהם עד עולם:
And this is the land which came forth for Ham as the portion which he was to occupy for ever for himself and his sons unto their generations for ever.
היא כל אורך הים ארתרה וכל ארץ הקדם וארץ הודו והריה וכל ארץ בלע וכל ארץ הלבנון ואיי כפתור וכל הררי שניר ואמנה:

ועלה לירכתי הצפון עד הרי גילט צפונה ולכתף ים מעוג:
And it extendeth northerly to the north, and it extendeth to the mountains of Qêlt towards the north, and towards the sea of Mâ’ûk,
ונסב מקדם לגדית עד לבוא חוף הים ועבר עד קרבו מקדם לרָפָה:
and it goeth forth to the east of Gâdîr as far as the region of the waters of the sea.
And it extendeth until it approacheth the west of Fârâ
And it extendeth until it approacheth the west of Fârâ
ושב ובא לעומת אפריקה ויצא קדמה מזרחה לפאת מי הים מיאת ועבר על יד הנחל תינה לאורכו נוכח קדמת הצפון עד קרבו אל גבול מימיו מול ההר רפה ונסב והלך צפונה:
and it returneth towards ’Afêrâg, and it extendeth easterly to the waters of the sea of Mê’at.
And it extendeth to the region of the river Tînâ in a northeasterly direction until it approacheth the boundary of its waters towards the mountain Râfâ, and it turneth round towards the north.
And it extendeth to the region of the river Tînâ in a northeasterly direction until it approacheth the boundary of its waters towards the mountain Râfâ, and it turneth round towards the north.
זאת הארץ אשר עלתה בגורל יפת ובניו לנחלתו לרשת עד עולם לו ולבניו לדורותיהם עד עולם:
