Yobelim/Jubilés Chapitre 42
1 Et dans la 1e année du la 3e semaine du 45e jubilé, la famine commença et arriva dans la terre et la pluie refusait de se donner sur la terre et rien ne tombait et la terre augmentait en désolation, mais dans la terre d’Égypte il y avait de la nourriture, car Joseph avait réuni le grain de la terre durant les 7 années grasses et l’avait conservé.
2 Et les égyptiens vinrent vers Joseph pour qu’il lui donne à manger et dans la 1e année il ouvrit les réservoirs où était le grain et le vendit aux gens de la terre pour de l’or.
3 Et Jacob entendit qu’il y avait à manger en Égypte et il envoya ses 10 fils qui ne le reconnurent pas mais il leur parla et les questionna et leur dit : – N’êtes-vous pas des espions et n’êtes-vous pas venus explorer les abords de la terre ?
4 Et il leur donna un avertissement et suite à cela il les renvoya libres sauf Siméon qui fut retenu et il renvoya ses 9 frères et remplit leurs sacs de maïs et remit leur or dans leurs sacs mais ils ne le savaient pas, et il leur commanda d’amener leur plus jeune frère, car ils lui avaient dit que leur père était vivant et leur plus jeune frère.
5 Et ils partirent de la terre d’Égypte et retournèrent dans la terre de Canaan et racontèrent à leur père tout ce qu’il leur était arrivé et comment le seigneur du pays leur avait durement parlé et avait saisi Siméon jusqu’à ce qu’ils amènent Benjamin.
6 Et Jacob dit : Vous m’avez privé de mes enfants ! Joseph n’est plus et Siméon n’est plus aussi et vous prendriez aussi Benjamin ; votre méchanceté retombe sur moi.
7 Et il dit : Mon fils n’ira pas avec vous de peur qu’il tombe malade, car sa mère a donné naissance à 2 fils ; l’un a péri et celui-là aussi vous voulez me l’enlever.
8 Si par malchance il prendrait une fièvre sur la route, vous forceriez mon vieil âge à mourir de chagrin.
9 Car il vit que leur argent avait été remis dans le sac de chaque homme et pour cette raison il craignait de l’envoyer.
10 Et la famine augmentait et devint sévère sur la terre de Canaan et sur toutes les terres sauf dans la terre d’Égypte, car beaucoup d’enfants des égyptiens avaient conservé leur semence du temps qu’ils virent Joseph réunir la semence ensemble et la mettre dans des réservoirs et la préserver pour les années de famine et le peuple d’Égypte s’en nourrit durant la 1e année de leur famine.
11 Mais quand Israël vit que la famine était très sévère sur la terre et qu’il n’y avait pas de délivrance, il dit à ses fils : Partez de nouveau et procurez-nous de la nourriture afin que nous ne mourions pas.
12 Et ils dirent : Nous ne partirons pas, nous ne partirons pas à moins que notre jeune frère parte avec nous.
13 Et Israël vit que s’il ne l’envoyait pas avec eux, ils périraient tous par cause de famine.
14 Et Reuben dit : Donne-le-moi en ma main et si je ne te le ramène pas, tue mes 2 fils à la place de son âme.
15 Et il lui dit : Il ne partira pas avec toi. Et Judah vint près et dit : Envoie-le avec moi et si je ne te le ramène pas, laisse-moi en porter le blâme devant toi tous les jours de ma vie.
16 Et dans le 1er jour du mois de la 2e année de cette semaine, il l’envoya avec eux et ils partirent vers la terre d’Égypte avec tous ceux qui y allaient, et [ils avaient] des présents dans leurs mains, nataf et amandes et noix de térébinthe et miel pur.
17 Et ils arrivèrent et se tinrent devant Joseph qui vit Benjamin son frère qui le reconnut, et il leur dit : Est-ce votre plus jeune frère ?
18 Et ils lui dirent : C’est lui. Et il dit : 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) soit miséricordieux avec toi mon fils !
19 Et il l’envoya dans sa maison et il leur amena Siméon puis il fit une fête et ils présentèrent dans leurs mains le présent qu’ils lui avaient apporté et ils mangèrent devant lui et il leur donna à tous une portion mais la portion de Benjamin était 7 fois plus grande que les leurs.
20 Et ils mangèrent et burent et se levèrent et regagnèrent leurs ânes.
21 Et Joseph complota un plan pour qu’il puisse découvrir leurs pensées et voir si des pensées de paix prévalaient au milieu d’eux et il dit à l’administrateur de sa maison : Remplis complètement leurs sacs de nourriture et remets pour eux leur argent dans leurs bagages et ma coupe, la coupe d’argent avec laquelle je vois, mets-la dans le sac du plus jeune et renvoie-les.
ובשנה הראשונה לשבוע השלישי ליובל החלה הבצורת לבוא בארץ ולא ניתך גשם על האדמה כי לא ירד מאומה והאדמה יבשה:
And in the first year of the third week of the forty-fifth jubilee the famine began to come into the land, and the rain refused to be given to the earth, for none whatever fell.
And the earth grew barren,
ורק בארץ מצרים היה אוכל כי קיבץ יוסף למען יוכל תת להם אוכל:
but in the land of Egypt there was food,
ויקבץ יוסף בשבע שני השובע את הזרע בארץ וישמור אותו:
for Joseph had gathered the seed of the land in the seven years of plenty and had preserved it.
ויבואו המצרים אל יוסף לשבור להם אוכל ויפתח את האוצרות אשר היה שם הבר משנה הראשונה וימכור אותו לאנשי הארץ בזהב:
And the Egyptians came to Joseph that he might give them food, and he opened the storehouses where was the grain of the first year, and he sold it to the people of the land for gold.
וישמע יעקב כי יש שבר במצרים וישלח את בניו לרדת מצרימה לשבור בר ואת בנימין לא שלח:
(Now the famine was very sore in the land of Canaan), and Jacob heard that there was food in Egypt, and he sent his ten sons that they should procure food for him in Egypt; but Benjamin he did not send,
ויבואו בתוך הבאים ויכר יוסף אותם והם לא ידעוהו:
and (the ten sons of Jacob) arrived (in Egypt) among those that went (there.)
And Joseph recognized them, but they did not recognize him,
וידבר אתם וישאל אותם ויאמר אליהם הלא מרגלים אתם באים לראות את ערוות הארץ:
and he spake unto them and questioned them, and he said unto them: "Are ye not spies, and have ye not come to explore the approaches of the land?"
ויאסוף אותם אל משמר ואחר כן הוציאם ויקח מאתם את שמעון לבדו ואת תשעת אחיו שלח:
And he put them in ward.
And after that he set them free again, and detained Simeon alone and sent off his nine brothers.
וימלא את אמתחותיהם בר ואת זהבם שם בשקיהם בלי ידעו מזה דבר:
And he filled their sacks with corn, and he put their gold in their sacks, and they did not know.
ויצו אותם להביא את אחיהם הקטן באמרם אליו כי אביהם ואחיהם הקטן עודם חיים:
And he commanded them to bring their younger brother, for they had told him their father was living and their younger brother.
ויעלו מארץ מצרים ויבואו ארצה כנען ויגידו לאביהם את כל הקורות אותם:
And they went up from the land of Egypt and they came to the land of Canaan; and they told their father all that had befallen them,
ואת אשר דיבר אליהם אדוני הארץ ואת אשר נתן את שמעון במשמר עד הביאם לו את בנימין:
and how the lord of the country had spoken roughly to them, and had seized Simeon till they should bring Benjamin.
ויאמר יעקב אותי שיכלתם יוסף איננו ושמעון איננו ואת בנימין תקחו עלי תבוא רעתכם:
And Jacob said: "Me have ye bereaved of my children! Joseph is not and Simeon also is not, and ye will take Benjamin away. On me hath your wickedness come."
ויאמר לא ירד בני עמכם פן יקראנו אסון:
And he said: "My son will not go down with you lest perchance he fall sick;
כי שנים ילדה אמם אחד מהם אבד וגם את זה תקחו וקראתהו הקדחת בדרך והורדתם את שיבתי ביגון שאולה:
for their mother gave birth to two sons, and one hath perished, and this one also ye will take from me. If perchance he took a fever on the road, ye would bring down my old age with sorrow unto death."
כי ראה אשר הושב זהבם בצרורותיהם ועל כן ירא לשלחהו אתם:
For he saw that their money had been returned to every man in his sack, and for this reason he feared to send him.
והרעב גדול וכבד בארץ כנען ובכל הארצות לבד מארץ מצרים:
And the famine increased and became sore in the land of Canaan, and in all lands save in the land of Egypt,
כי רבים מן המצרים קבצו להם את זרעם לאוכל כראותם כי קובץ יוסף את הזרע וצובר אותו באוצרות ושומר אותו לשני הרעב:
for many of the children of the Egyptians had stored up their seed for food from the time when they saw Joseph gathering seed together and putting it in storehouses and preserving it for the years of famine.
ויאכלו ממנו אנשי מצרים בשנה הראשונה לרעבונם:
And the people of Egypt fed themselves thereon during the first year of their famine.
ויהי כראות ישראל כי הרעב כבד מאוד בארץ ואין ישועתה עוד ויאמר אל בניו שובו שברו לנו אוכל ולא נמות:
But when Israel saw that the famine was very sore in the land, and there was no deliverance, he said unto his sons: "Go again, and procure food for us that we die not."
ויאמרו לא נלך אם אין אחינו הקטן הולך עמנו לא נלך:
And they said: "We shall not go; unless our youngest brother go with us, we shall not go."
וירא ישראל כי אם איננו משלח אותו אתם יאבדו כולם ברעב:
And Israel saw that if he did not send him with them, they should all perish by reason of the famine.
ויאמר ראובן תנה אותו על ידי ואם לא אשיבנו אליך תמית את שני בני בעד נפשו ויאמר לא ילך עמך:
And Reuben said: "Give him into my hand, and if I do not bring him back to thee, slay my two sons instead of his soul." And he said unto him He will not go with thee."
ויגש יהודה ויאמר שלחה אותו איתי ואם לא אשיבנו אליך וחטאתי לך כל ימי חיי:
And Judah came near and said: "Send him with me, and if I do not bring him back to thee, let me bear the blame before thee all the days of my life."
וישלחהו אתם בשנה השנית לשבוע בראש החודש ויבואו ארצה מצרים בתוך הבאים ומנחות בידם צרי ושקדים ובטנים ודבש טהור:
And he sent him with them in the second year of this week on the first day of the month, and they came to the land of Egypt with all those who went, and (they had) presents in their hands, stacte and almonds and terebinth nuts and pure honey.
ויבואו ויעמדו לפני יוסף וירא את בנימין אחיו ויכירם ויאמר אליהם הזה אחיכם הקטן:
And they went and stood before Joseph, and he saw Benjamin his brother, and he knew him, and said unto them: "Is this your youngest brother?"
ויאמרו אליו זה הוא ויאמר אלוהים יחנך בני:
And they said unto him: "It is he." And he said: "The Lord be gracious to thee, my son!"
וישלח אותם אל ביתו ויוצא אליהם גם את שמעון ויעש להם משתה:
And he sent him into his house and he brought forth Simeon unto them and he made a feast for them
ויתנו לו את המנחה אשר הביאו לו ויאכלו לפניו ויתן להם מנה לאיש ואיש ותרב מנת בנימין שבעתיים ממנת כולם:
and they presented to him the gift which they had brought in their hands.
And they ate before him and he gave them all a portion, but the portion of Benjamin was seven times larger than that of any of theirs.
ויאכלו וישתו ויקומו ויעמדו על חמוריהם:
And they ate and drank and arose and remained with their asses.
ויחשוב יוסף מזימה להכיר בה את יצר לבבם לדעת היש יצר רחמים בקרבם:
And Joseph devised a plan whereby he might learn their thoughts as to whether thoughts of peace prevailed amongst them,
ויאמר אל האיש אשר על ביתו מלא להם את כל שקיהם בר והשיב גם להם זהבם באמתחותיהם:
and he said to the steward who was over his house: "Fill all their sacks with food, and return their money unto them into their vessels,
ואת גביעי גביע הכסף אשר אשתה בו תשים בשק הקטן ותשלחם:
and my cup, the silver cup out of which I drink, put it in the sack of the youngest, and send them away."
