1 Et en ces jours, pharaon fit 2 rêves en une nuit au sujet d’une famine qui allait être sur toute la terre et il se réveilla de son sommeil et appela tous les interprètes de rêves et magiciens qui étaient en Égypte et leur parla des 2 rêves mais ils ne furent pas capable de [les] expliquer.
2 Et alors le chef maitre d’hôtel se souvint de Joseph et en parla au roi et il l’amena de la prison et il déclara ses 2 rêves devant lui que ces 2 rêves n’étaient qu’un : 7 années viendront [lesquelles seront] grasses sur toute la terre d’Égypte et ensuite 7 années de famine telle qu’il n’a jamais été dans toute la terre, et dit devant pharaon : Et maintenant que pharaon appointe des auditeurs sur toute la terre d’Égypte et qu’ils conservent la nourriture dans chaque ville pour tous les jours des années grasses et il y aura de la nourriture pour les 7 ans de famine, et la terre ne périra pas de famine, car elle sera sévère.
3 Et 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) donna faveur et grâce à Joseph aux yeux de pharaon et pharaon dit à ses serviteurs : Nous ne trouverons pas un homme sage et discret comme cet homme, car le Souffle de 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) est avec lui.
4 Et il l’appointa second dans tout son royaume et lui donna autorité sur toute l’Égypte et le fit conduire le second chariot de pharaon et l’habilla de vêtement de byssus et il mit une chaine en or sur son cou et [un hérald] proclamait devant lui : El, El wa abirer.
5 Il plaça un anneau sur sa main et le fit intendant sur toute sa maison et le magnifia et lui dit : Je suis plus grand que toi par le trône seulement.
6 Et Joseph dirigea toute la terre d’Égypte et tous les princes de pharaon, tous ses serviteurs et tous ceux qui s’occupaient des affaires du roi l’aimaient, car il marchait en droiture et il était sans orgueil et arrogance, et il n’avait aucun respect des personnes et n’acceptait pas les présents mais il jugeait en justice tous les gens de la terre.
7 Et la terre d’Égypte était en paix devant pharaon à cause de Joseph, car 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) était avec lui et lui donnait faveur et grâce dans toutes ses opérations, devant tous ceux qui le connaissaient et ceux qui avaient entendu parler de lui.
8 Et le royaume de pharaon était bien ordonné et il n’y avait ni satan (adversaire), ni mauvaise personne.
9 Et le roi appela le nom de Joseph Sephantiphans et donna pour femme à Joseph la fille de Potiphar, la fille du sacrificateur d’Heliopolis, le chef cuisinier.
10 Et au jour que Joseph se tenait devant pharaon, il était âgé de 30 ans [quand il se tint devant pharaon] et Isaac mourut cette année-là.
11 Et cela arriva quand Joseph dit l’interprétation de ces 2 rêves, selon ce qu’il avait dit il y eut 7 années grasses sur toute la terre d’Égypte et la terre d’Égypte produisit abondamment, une mesure [produisait] 1 800 mesures, et Joseph rassembla la nourriture dans chaque ville jusqu’à ce qu’elles soient pleines de maïs (blé) et qu’ils ne pouvaient plus compter et le mesurer à cause de sa multitude.
ובימים ההם חלם פרעה שני חלומות בלילה אחד על רעב אשר יבוא על כל הארץ:
And in those days Pharaoh dreamed two dreams in one night concerning a famine which was to be in all the land,
וייקץ משנתו ויקרא את כל פותרי חלום אשר במצרים ואת החרטומים ויספר להם את שני חלומותיו ולא יכלו לדעת מאומה:
and he awoke from his sleep and called all the interpreters of dreams that were in Egypt, and magicians, and told them his two dreams, and they were not able to declare (them).
אחרי כן זכר שר המשקים את יוסף וידבר עליו אל המלך:
And then the chief butler remembered Joseph and spake of him to the king,
וישלח ויקחהו מבית הסוהר ויספר לפניו את שני חלומותיו:
and he brought him forth from the prison, and he told his two dreams before him.
ויאמר לפני פרעה שני החלומות אחד הוא:
And he said before Pharaoh that his two dreams were one,
ויאמר אליו שבע שנים באות שובע גדול בכל מצרים וקמו אחריהן שבע שני רעב אשר לא היה כמוהו על כל הארץ:
and he said unto him: "Seven years will come (in which there will be) plenty over all the land of Egypt, and after that seven years of famine, such a famine as hath not been in all the land.
עתה הפקד פרעה בכל ארץ מצרים אוצרות בר ויקבצו בהם אוכל מעיר לעיר בשני השבע והיה האוכל לפיקדון לשבע שני הרעב כי כבד הוא מאוד:
And now let Pharaoh appoint overseers in all the land of Egypt, and let them store up food in every city throughout the days of the years of plenty, and there will be food for the seven years of famine, and the land will not perish through the famine, for it will be very severe."
ויתן ה' ליוסף חסד ורחמים לפני עיני פרעה ויאמר פרעה אל עבדיו לא נמצא איש חכם ונבון כמוהו כי רוח אלוהים עמו:
And the Lord gave Joseph favour and mercy in the eyes of Pharaoh, and Pharaoh said unto his servants: "We shall not find such a wise and discreet man as this man, for the spirit of the Lord is with him."
ויתן אותו למשנה על כל מלכותו וישימהו לאדון על כל מצרים:
And he appointed him the second in all his kingdom and gave him authority over all Egypt,
וירכב אותו במרכבת המשנה אשר לו וילבש אותו בגד בוץ וישם לו רביד זהב על צוארו ויקראו לפניו אל אל ואברך:
and caused him to ride in the second chariot of Pharaoh.
And he clothed him with byssus garments, and he put a gold chain upon his neck, and (a herald) proclaimed before him "’Êl ’Êl wa’ Abîrĕr,"
וישם טבעת על ידו וישימהו לאדון על כל ביתו ויגדילהו ויאמר אליו רק הכסא אגדל ממך:
and he placed a ring on his hand and made him ruler over all his house, and magnified him, and said unto him: "Only on the throne shall I be greater than thou."
ויהי יוסף אדון על כל ארץ מצרים ויאהבו אותו כל שרי פרעה וכל עבדיו וכל עושי המלאכה אשר למלך:
And Joseph ruled over all the land of Egypt, and all the princes of Pharaoh, and all his servants, and all who did the king's business loved him,
כי במישרים התהלך ולא גבה לבו ולא רם רוחו ולא נשא פנים ולא לקח שוחד כי אם במישרים שפט את כל עמי הארץ:
for he walked in uprightness, for he was without pride and arrogance, and he had no respect of persons, and did not accept gifts, but he judged in uprightness all the people of the land.
וממשלת הארץ היתה טובה לפני פרעה בגלל יוסף כי היה ה' עמו ויתן לו חסד ורחמים לכל דורו לפני כל יודעיו ושומעי שימעו:
And the land of Egypt was at peace before Pharaoh because of Joseph, for the Lord was with him, and gave him favour and mercy for all his generations before all those who knew him and those who heard concerning him,
ומלכות פרעה היתה כמשפט אין צר ואין מרע בקרבה:
and Pharaoh's kingdom was well ordered, and there was no Satan and no evil person (therein).
ויקרא המלך שם יוסף צפנת פענח ויתן ליוסף את בת פוטיפרע לאשה בת הזובח מעיר און שר הטבחים:
And the king called Joseph's name Sĕphânṭîphâns, and gave Joseph to wife the daughter of Potiphar, the daughter of the priest of Heliopolis, the chief cook.
וביום עמוד יוסף אצל פרעה היה בן שלושים שנה בעומדו לפני פרעה ובשנה ההיא מת יצחק:
And on the day that Joseph stood before Pharaoh he was thirty years old [when he stood before Pharaoh].
And in that year Isaac died.
ויהי כאשר אמר יוסף בפתרון חלומו כן היה ותבואנה שבע שני שובע על כל הארץ מצרים למידה אחת אלף ושמונה מאות מידות:
And it came to pass as Joseph had said in the interpretation of his two dreams, according as he had said it, there were seven years of plenty over all the land of Egypt, and the land of Egypt produced abundantly, one measure (producing) eighteen hundred measures.
ויקבוץ יוסף אוכל מעיר לעיר עד אשר מלאו בר עד כי חדל לספור ולמוד אותו מרוב:
And Joseph gathered food into every city until they were full of corn until they could no longer count and measure it for its multitude.
