Yobelim/Jubilés Chapitre 31

1 Et à la tête du [7e] mois, Jacob parla à tous les gens de sa maison en disant :  Purifiez-vous et changez vos vêtements, levons-nous et allons à Bethel où je lui ai fait le vœu le jour quand je m’enfuis de la face d’Esau mon frère, car il a été avec moi et me ramène dans cette terre en paix. 

2 Et séparez-vous des elohim étrangers qui sont parmi vous.

3 Et ils abandonnèrent les elohim étrangers et ce qui était dans leurs oreilles et ce qui était sur leurs cous et les idoles que Rachel vola à son père Laban, elle donna tout à Jacob. 

4 Et il les brûla et cassa en pièces et les détruisit et les enfouit sous un chêne qui est dans la terre de Shechem.

5 Et il monta à Bethel à la tête du 7e mois et il construisit un autel à l’endroit où il avait dormi et il plaça là un pilier et il envoya un mot à son père Isaac et à sa mère Rébecca de venir vers lui pour son sacrifice.

6 Et Isaac dit : Que mon fils Jacob vienne et que je le voie avant que je meure. 

7 Et Jacob vint vers son père Isaac et vers sa mère Rébecca dans la maison de son père Abraham et il prit avec lui Lévi et Judah, 2 de ses fils, et il alla vers son père Isaac et vers sa mère Rébecca. 

8 Et Rébecca partit de la tour au devant de Jacob pour l’embrasser et le serrer, car son souffme était revivifié quand elle entendit : Voici, Jacob ton fils est venu ! Et elle l’embrassa. 

9 Et elle vit ses 2 fils et elle les reconnut et lui dit : Sont-ils tes fils mon fils ? Et elle les serra et les embrassa et les bénit en disant : En vous la semence d’Abraham deviendra illustre et vous prouverez une bénédiction sur la terre.

10 Et Jacob alla dans la chambre où son père Isaac couchait, et ses 2 fils avec lui, et il prit la main de son père et s’agenouillant il l’embrassa et Isaac s’accrocha au cou de son fils Jacob et pleura à son cou. 

11 Et l’obscurité délaissa les yeux de Isaac et il vit les 2 fils de Jacob, Lévi et Judah, et il dit :  Sont-ils tes fils mon fils, car ils sont comme toi ? Et il lui dit qu’ils étaient vraiment ses fils. 

12 Et tu as réellement vu qu’ils sont véritablement mes fils. 

13 Et ils s’approchèrent de lui et il se retourna et les embrassa et les serrèrent ensemble tous les deux.

14 Et le Souffle de la prophétie descendit dans sa bouche et il prit Lévi par sa main droite et Judah par sa gauche. 

15 Et il se tourna vers Lévi en premier et commença en premier de le bénir et lui dit : Que l'Elohim de tout, le Vrai Seigneur de tous les âges te bénisse toi et tes enfants à travers tous les âges. 

16 Et que 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) te donne à toi et à ta semence grandeur et grande gloire et fasse que parmi toute chair, toi et ta semence s’approchent de lui et le servent dans son sanctuaire comme les Anges de la Présence et comme les saints êtres, comme eux [mêmes], que la semence de tes fils soit pour la gloire, grandeur et sainteté, et qu’il les rende grands dans tous les âges. 

17 Et ils seront juges et princes et chefs de toute la semence des fils de Jacob. 

18 Ils diront la parole de 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) avec droiture et ils seront juges dans tous ses jugements en droiture.

19 Et ils révèleront mes voies à Jacob et mes sentiers à Israël. 

20 La bénédiction de 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) sera donnée par leurs bouches pour bénir toute la semence du bien-aimé. 

21 Ta mère a appelé ton nom Lévi et elle a appelé ton nom justement, car tu seras uni à 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) et seras le compagnon de tous les fils de Jacob.

22 Que sa table soit tienne et que toi et tes fils en mangent. Et que ta table soit pleine dans toutes les générations et que ta nourriture ne manque pas dans tous les âges. 

23 Que tous ceux qui te haïssent tombent devant toi et que tous tes adversaires soient déracinés et périssent. Et béni est celui qui te bénit, et maudite est toute nation qui te maudit.

24 Et il dit à Judah : Que 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) te donne force et puissance pour écraser tous ceux qui te haïssent. 

25 Tu seras un prince, toi et un de tes fils, au-dessus des fils de Jacob. 

26 Que ton nom et le nom de tes fils avancent et traversent toute terre et région. 

27 Alors les nations craindront devant ta face et toutes les nations trembleront [et tous les peuples trembleront].

28 En toi sera l’aide de Jacob et en toi sera trouvé le salut d’Israël et tu t’assiéras sur le trône d’honneur de ta justice et il y aura une grande paix pour toute la semence des fils du bien-aimé. 

29 Béni est celui qui te bénit, et tous ceux qui te haïssent et t’affligent et te maudissent seront maudits et seront déracinés et détruits de la terre.

30 Et se retournant il l’embrassa encore et le serra et se réjouit grandement, car il avait vu les fils de Jacob son fils véritablement et il se plaça en avant de ses pieds et tombant il s’agenouilla devant lui et il les bénit.

31 Et ils se reposèrent là avec Isaac son père cette nuit et ils mangèrent et burent avec joie. 

32 Et il fit dormir les 2 fils de Jacob, l’un à sa main droite et l’autre à sa gauche et il lui fut compté en justice. 

33 Et Jacob dit tout à son père durant la nuit, comment 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) lui avait démontré grande miséricorde et comment il [l’]avait [fait] prospérer dans toutes ses voies et le protégea de tout mal. 

34 Et Isaac bénit l'Elohim de son père Abraham qui n’avait pas retenu sa miséricorde et sa justice envers les fils de son serviteur Isaac. 

35 Et au matin Jacob dit à son père Isaac le vœu qu’il avait fait à 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) et la vision qu’il avait vue ; qu’il avait construit un autel et que tout était prêt pour faire le sacrifice devant 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) comme il avait juré et qu’il était venu pour le placer sur un âne.

36 Et Isaac dit à Jacob son fils : Je ne suis pas capable d’y aller avec toi, car je suis âgé et ne peux supporter le voyage. 

37 Va en paix mon fils, car je suis âgé de 165 ans ce jour, je ne suis plus capable de voyager. Place ta mère [sur un âne] et qu’elle aille avec toi. 

38 Et je sais mon fils que tu es venu pour moi et ce jour est béni par lequel tu m’as vu vivant et moi aussi je t’ai vu mon fils ; que tu prospères et accomplisses le vœu que tu as juré, et n’enlève rien à ton vœu, car tu seras appelé au compte qui touche le vœu. 

39 Maintenant dépêche-toi de le réaliser et qu’il soit agréé par Celui qui a fait toutes choses, à qui tu as juré ton vœu. 

40 Et il dit à Rébecca : Va avec Jacob ton fils ! Et Rébecca alla avec Jacob son fils et Deborah avec elle et ils allèrent à Bethel.

41 Et Jacob se rappela la prière par laquelle son père l’avait béni lui et ses fils Lévi et Judah et il se réjouit et bénit le Dieu de ses pères Abraham et Isaac et il dit : Maintenant je sais ce qu’est avoir une espérance éternelle et mes fils aussi devant l'Elohim de tout. 

42 Et cela est ordonné concernant les 2 et ils l’écrivirent comme un témoignage éternel sur eux sur les tablettes célestes quand Isaac les bénit. Et il résida à Bethel cette nuit.

ובראש החודש דיבר יעקב את כל אנשי ביתו לאמור היטהרו והחליפו שמלותיכם:

And on the new moon of the month Jacob spake to all the people of his house, saying: "Purify yourselves and change your garments,

נקומה ונעלה בית אל אשר נדרתי שם נדר ביום אשר ברחתי מפני עשו אחי כי היה עימדי וישיבני בשלום אל הארץ הזאת:

and let us arise and go up to Bethel, where I vowed a vow to Him on the day when I fled from the face of Esau my brother, because He hath been with me and brought me into this land in peace,

והרחיקו את אלוהי הנכר אשר בתוככם והסירו את אלוהי הנכר ואת אשר לכם בצואריכם ובאזניכם ואת התרפים אשר גנבה רחל מלבן אביה:

and put ye away the strange gods that are among you."
And they gave up the strange gods and that which was in their ears and which was on their necks, and the idols which Rachel stole from Laban her brother

ותתן את הכל ליעקב וישברם ויכחידם ויטמון אותם תחת האלה בארץ אנשי שכם:

she gave wholly to Jacob. And he burnt and brake them to pieces and destroyed them, and hid them under an oak which is in the land of Shechem.

ובראש החודש השביעי עלה בית אל ויבן מזבח במקום אשר ישן שם ויצב את המצבה:

And he went up on the new moon of the seventh month to Bethel. And he built an altar at the place where he had slept, and he set up a pillar there,


וישלח אל יצחק אביו לבוא אליו אל זבחו וגם אל רבקה אמו:

and he sent word to his father Isaac to come to him to his sacrifice, and to his mother Rebecca.

ויאמר יצחק יבוא נא יעקב בני ואראנו בטרם אמות:

And Isaac said: "Let my son Jacob come, and let me see him before I die."

ויסע יעקב אל יצחק אביו ואל רבקה אמו בית אברהם אביו ויקח איתו שנים מבניו את לוי ואת יהודה ויבוא אל יצחק אביו ואל רבקה אמו:

And Jacob went to his father Isaac and to his mother Rebecca, to the house of his father Abraham, and he took two of his sons with him, Levi and Judah, and he came to his father Isaac and to his mother Rebecca.

ותצא רבקה מן המגדל החוצה לנשק את יעקב ולחבק אותו כי חייתה רוחה בשמעה הנה בנך יעקב בא:

And Rebecca came forth from the tower to the front of it to kiss Jacob and embrace him; for her spirit had revived when she heard: "Behold Jacob thy son hath come";

ותישקהו ותרא את שני בניו ותכר אותם ותאמר אליו הבניך אלה בני:

and she kissed him.
And she saw his two sons, and she recognised them, and said unto him: "Are these thy sons, my son?"

ותחבק אותם ותישק להם ותברך אותם לאמור בכם יכבד זרע אברהם והייתם וברכה על הארץ:

and she embraced them and kissed them, and blessed them, saying: "In you shall the seed of Abraham become illustrious, and ye will prove a blessing on the earth."


ויבוא יעקב אל יצחק אביו אל חדרו אשר ישן שם ושני בניו עימו:

And Jacob went in to Isaac his father, to the chamber where he lay, and his two sons were with him,

ויתמוך יד אביו ויקוד וישקהו ויפול יצחק על צוארי יעקב בנו ויבך על צואריו:

and he took the hand of his father, and stooping down he kissed him, and Isaac clung to the neck of Jacob his son, and wept upon his neck.

והחושך מש מעיני יצחק וירא את שני בני יעקב לוי ויהודה ויאמר הבניך הם אלה בני כי כמוהם כמוך:

And the darkness left the eyes of Isaac, and he saw the two sons of Jacob, Levi and Judah, and he said: "Are these thy sons, my son? for they are like thee."

ויאמר אליו כי באמת בניו הם ויאמר אמנם ראיתי כי באמנה בני המה:

And he said unto him that they were truly his sons: "And thou hast truly seen that they are truly my sons."

ויקרבו אליו ויפן וישק להם ויחבק אותם יחדו:

And they came near to him, and he turned and kissed them and embraced them both together.

ורוח הנבואה צלחה על פיהו ויתמוך ביד ימין לוי ויפן אל לוי ויואל לברך אותו בראשונה:

And the spirit of prophecy came down into his mouth, and he took Levi by his right hand and Judah by his left.

ויען ויאמר יברכך בראשונה אדון כל העולמים אותך ואת בניך לעולמי עד:

And he turned to Levi first, and began to bless him first, and said unto him:, 'May the God of all, the very Lord of all the ages, bless thee and thy children throughout all the ages.


ואלוהים ישים אותך ואת זרעך לכבוד ולתפארת ואותך ואת זרעך יקריב אליו מכל בשר לשרת לפניו במקדשו:

And may the Lord give to thee and to thy seed greatness and great glory, and cause thee and thy seed, from among all flesh, to approach Him to serve in His sanctuary as the angels of the presence and as the holy ones.

כמלאכי הפנים וכקדושים כן יהיה זרע בניך לכבוד ולתפארה ולקדושה:

(Even) as they, will the seed of thy sons be for glory and greatness and holiness,

ויגדלם לעולמי עד ואדונים ונשיאים וגבירים יהיו לכל זרע בני יעקב:

and may He make them great unto all the ages.
And they will be princes and judges, and chiefs of all the seed of the sons of Jacob;

את דבר ה' ידברו באמונה ומשפטו ישפטו בצדק ואת דרכי יספרו ליעקב ותורת ישראל:

They will speak the word of the Lord in righteousness, And they will judge all His judgments in righteousness. And they will declare My ways to Jacob. And My paths to Israel.

ברכת ה' נתונה בפיהם למען יברך כל זרעם אותך ידידיה:

The blessing of the Lord will be given in their mouths To bless all the seed of the beloved.

ואימך קראה את שמך לוי וצדקה בקראה לך שם זה הלוה תלוה לה וחלק יהיה לך בכל בני יעקב:

Thy mother hath called thy name Levi,


שולחנו לך הוא וממנו תאכל אתה ובניך שולחנך מלא דשן לדור ודור ולא יגרע חקך לעולמי עד:

And justly hath she called thy name; Thou wilt be joined to the Lord And be the companion of all the sons of Jacob; Let His table be thine, And do thou and thy sons eat thereof; And may thy table be full unto all generations, And thy food fail not unto all the ages.

כל משנאיך בדבר יאבדו מפניך וכל אויביך יכרתו ויאבדו:

And let all who hate thee fall down before thee, And let all thy adversaries be rooted out and perish;

מברכיך ברוכים וכל אורריך ארורים:

And blessed be he that blesseth thee, And cursed be every nation that curseth thee.

וליהודה אמר יתן לך ה' כח וגבורה למען תבוס כל משנאיך:

And to Judah he said: May the Lord give thee strength and power To tread down all that hate thee;

הוה גביר אתה ואחד בניך על בני יעקב שמך ושם בניך ילך ויפרוץ על על הארץ ועל הערים:

A prince shalt thou be, thou and one of thy sons, over the sons of Jacob; May thy name and the name of thy sons go forth and traverse every land and region.

אז ייראו הגוים מפניך וכל העמים יחתו וכל מתי חלד יחתו:

Then will the Gentiles fear before thy face, And all the nations will quake [And all the peoples will quake].


בך יוושע יעקב ובך יפדה ישראל:

In thee shall be the help of Jacob, And in thee be found the salvation of Israel.

והיה בשבתך על כסא הכבוד תגדל צדקתך שלום על כל זרע בני ידידיה:

And when thou sittest on the throne of the honour of thy righteousness, There will be great peace for all the seed of the sons of the beloved,

מברכך ברוך וכל משנאיך ומעניך ואורריך יכרתו ויאבדו מן הארץ ויהיו ארורים:

And blessed will he be that blesseth thee; And all that hate thee and afflict thee and curse thee Shall be rooted out and destroyed from the earth and accursed."

ויפן וישב וישקהו ויחבקהו ויעלוז מאוד כי ראה בני יעקב בן בחירו:

And turning he kissed him again and embraced him, and rejoiced greatly; for he had seen the sons of Jacob his son in very truth.

ויצא מעם ברכיו וישתחו לאפיו ארצה ויברך אותם ויהי שם אצל יצחק אביו בלילה ההוא ויאכלו וישתו וייטיבו ליבם:

And he went forth from between his feet and fell down and worshipped him. And he blessed them. And (Jacob) rested there with Isaac his father that night, and they ate and drank with joy.

ויצב את שני בני יעקב אחד מימינו ואחד משמאלו ותחשב לו לצדקה:

And he made the two sons of Jacob sleep, the one on his right hand and the other on his left and it was counted to him for righteousness.

ויספר יעקב ליצחק אביו בלילה את כל החסד אשר עשה לו ה' ואת אשר הצליח אותו בכל דרכיו ושמר אותו מכל רע:

And Jacob told his father everything during the night, how the Lord had shown him great mercy, and how He had prospered (him in) all his ways, and protected him from all evil.


ויברך יצחק את אלוהי אברהם אביו אשר לא עזב רחמיו וצדקתו מבן יצחק עבדו:

And Isaac blessed the God of his father Abraham, who had not withdrawn His mercy and His righteousness from the sons of His servant Isaac.

ובבוקר הגיד יעקב ליצחק אביו את הנדר אשר נדר לה ואת המראה אשר ראה וכי בנה מזבח והכן הכל לזבח לעשות לפני ה' כאשר נדר וכי בא לשאת אותו על חמור:

And in the morning Jacob told his father Isaac the vow which he had vowed to the Lord, and the vision which he had seen, and that he had built an altar, and that everything was ready for the sacrifice to be made before the Lord as he had vowed, and that he had come to set him on an ass.

ויאמר יצחק אל יעקב לא אוכל ללכת עמך כי זקנתי וכבד ממני הדרך:

And Isaac said unto Jacob his son: "I am not able to go with thee; for I am old, and not able to bear the way:

לך לך בני בשלום כי בן מאה ושישים וחמש שנים אנוכי היום לא אוכל ללכת:

go, my son, in peace; for I am one hundred and sixty-five years this day; I am no longer able to journey, set thy mother (on an ass) and let her go with thee.

שא נא את אמך ותלך איתך ואני ידעתי בני כי למעני באת ויהי היום הזה מבורך אשר בו ראית אותי חי ואנוכי ראיתיך בני גם אתה:

And I know, my son, that thou hast come on my account, and may this day be blessed on which thou hast seen me alive, and I also have seen thee, my son.

צלח ושלם את הנדר אשר נדרת ואל תאחר את הדרך כי נדר שמחה הוא:

Mayest thou prosper and fulfil the vow which thou hast vowed, and put not off thy vow; for thou wilt be called to account as touching the vow;


ועתה מהרה לשלם אותו ולרצון יהי לפני קונה הכל אשר נדרת לו את הנדר:

now therefore make haste to perform it, and may He be pleased who hath made all things, to whom thou hast vowed the vow."

ויאמר אל רבקה לכי את עם בנך עם יעקב ותלך רבקה עם יעקב ודבורה אתה ותבאנה בית אל:

And he said to Rebecca: "Go with Jacob thy son"; and Rebecca went with Jacob her son, and Deborah with her, and they came to Bethel.

ויזכור יעקב את הברכה אשר ברך אביו אותו ואת שני בניו לוי ויהודה וישמח ויברך את אלוהי אבותיו אברהם ויצחק ויאמר:

And Jacob remembered the prayer with which his father had blessed him and his two sons, Levi and Judah, and he rejoiced and blessed the God of his fathers, Abraham and Isaac.

עתה ידעתי כי תקות עולם לי ולבני לפני אלוהי כל היקום ונועד הדבר על שניהם ונרשם להם לעדות עולם על לוחות השמים כאשר ברך אותם יצחק:

And he said: "Now I know that I have an eternal hope, and my sons also, before the God of all;" and thus is it ordained concerning the two; and they record it as an eternal testimony unto them on the heavenly tables how Isaac blessed them.
