Yobelim/Jubilés Chapitre 29

1 Et cela arriva lorsque Rachel mit au monde Joseph, Laban partit tondre ses moutons. 

2 Comme ils étaient distants de lui de 3 jours de voyage, Jacob vit que Laban partit tondre ses moutons et Jacob appela Léah et Rachel et il leur parla doucement qu’elles devraient venir avec lui dans la terre de Canaan. 

3 Et il leur dit tout ce qu’il avait vu dans un rêve, même tout ce dont il a parlé avec lui qu’il devrait retourner vers la maison de son père, et elles dirent : Dans tout endroit que tu iras nous irons avec toi !

4 Et Jacob bénit l'Elohim d’Isaac son père et l'Elohim d’Abraham le père de son père et il se leva et mit en selle ses femmes et ses enfants et prit toutes ses possessions et ils traversèrent la rivière et arrivèrent sur la terre de Gilead. 

5 Mais Jacob cacha son intention à Laban et ne lui dit pas.

6 Et dans le 21e jour du 1e mois de la 7e année de la 4e semaine, Jacob tourna [sa face] vers Gilead et Laban le poursuivit et le 13e jour du 3e mois il le rejoint dans la montagne de Gilead et 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) lui apparut dans un rêve de nuit, car il ne permit pas d’offenser Jacob. 

7 Et Laban parla à Jacob et le 15de ces jours, Jacob fit une fête pour Laban et pour tous ceux qui vinrent avec lui et Jacob jura à Laban ce jour et Laban aussi à Jacob que personne ne traverserait la montagne de Gilead vers l’autre dans une mauvaise intention.

8 Et il fit là un amoncèlement en témoignage et depuis cette place est dénommée La pile du témoignage, d’après cet amoncèlement.

9 Et ils appelaient avant la terre de Gilead, la terre des rephaim, car c’était la terre des rephaim et les rephaim étaient nés [là] ; des géants dont la hauteur était de 7, 8, 9 jusqu’à 10 coudées et leur habitation était de la terre des enfants d’Ammon au mont Hermon et les assises de leur royaume étaient Karnaim et Ashtaroth et Edrei et Misur et Beon. 

10 Et 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) les détruisit à cause de la cruauté de leurs actions, car ils étaient très malins et les amorites habitèrent à leur place, mauvais et pécheurs, et il n’y a personne aujourd’hui qui ait entièrement réalisé tous leurs péchés et ils n’eurent pas plus de durée de vie sur la terre.

11 Et Jacob renvoya Laban en Mesopotamie qui partit vers la terre de l’EST et Jacob retourna sur la terre de Gilead et le 11e jour du 9e mois il traversa le jabbok et en ce jour Esau son frère vint vers lui et il se réconcilia avec lui puis se sépara de lui sur la terre de Seir et Jacob habita dans des tentes.

12 Et dans la 1e année de la 5e semaine de ce jubilé, il traversa le Jourdain et habita au-delà du Jourdain et paissait ses moutons à partir de la mer de l’amoncèlement jusqu’à Bethsan et jusqu’à Dothan et jusqu’à la forêt d’Akrabbim. 

13 Et il envoya à son père Isaac toute subsistance, vêtement et nourriture et viande et boisson et lait et beurre et fromage et quelques dates de la vallée, vers la tour d’Abraham et à sa mère Rébecca aussi, 4 fois l’année, entre les semailles et les récoltes et entre l’automne et la pluie [saisonnière] et entre le printemps et l’été.

14 Car Isaac était parti du puits du serment et monté habiter la tour de son père Abraham, à part de son fils Esau, car dans les jours que Jacob était en Mesopotamie, Esau prit pour lui une femme Mahalath, fille d’Ishmaël, et ils réunirent ensemble tous les troupeaux de son père et monta avec ses femmes et habita au mont Seir, laissant Isaac son père seul au puits du serment. 

15 Et Isaac partit du puits du serment et habita dans la tour d’Abraham son père, dans les montagnes de Hebron, et Jacob y envoyait tout ce qu’il envoyait à son père et sa mère au temps fixé, tout ce dont ils avaient besoin et ils bénirent Jacob de tout leur cœur et de toute leur âme.

ויהי כאשר ילדה רחל את יוסף וילך לבן לגזוז את צאנו בדרך שלושת ימים:

And it came to pass when Rachel had borne Joseph, that Laban went to shear his sheep; for they were distant from him a three days' journey.

וירא יעקב כי הלך לבן לגזוז את צאנו ויקרא ללאה ולרחל וידבר על ליבן ללכת איתו ארצה כנען:

And Jacob saw that Laban was going to shear his sheep, and Jacob called Leah and Rachel, and spake kindly unto them that they should come with him to the land of Canaan.

ויספר להן את כל אשר ראה בחלום ואת כל אשר דיבר איתו לשוב אל בית אביו:

For he told them how he had seen everything in a dream, even all that He had spoken unto him that he should return to his father's house;

ותאמרנה הננו ללכת אל כל מקום באשר תלך נלכה גם אנחנו איתך:

and they said: "To every place whither thou goest we will go with thee."

ויברך יעקב את אלהי אביו יצחק ואת אלהי אבי אביו אברהם ויקם וישא את נשיו ואת בניו ויקח את כל רכושו ויעבור את הנהר ויבוא אל ארץ הגלעד:

And Jacob blessed the God of Isaac his father, and the God of Abraham his father's father, and he arose and mounted his wives and his children, and took all his possessions and crossed the river, and came to the land of Gilead,


ויעקב הסתיר את מחשבתו מלבן ולא הגיד לו דבר בשנה השביעית לשבוע הרביעי שב יעקב גלעדה באחד ועשרים לחודש הראשון:

and Jacob hid his intention from Laban and told him not. And in the seventh year of the fourth week Jacob turned (his face) toward Gilead in the first month, on the twenty-first thereof.

וירדוף לבן אחריו וידבק את יעקב בהר הגלעד בשלושה עשר יום לחודש השלישי:

And Laban pursued after him and overtook Jacob in the mountain of Gilead in the third month, on the thirteenth thereof.

ולא נתנו אלהים להרע ליעקב כי נראה אליו בחלום הלילה:

And the Lord did not suffer him to injure Jacob; for He appeared to him in a dream by night.

וידבר לבן עם יעקב ובחמישה עשר יום עשה יעקב משתה ללבן ולכל הבאים אתו:

And Laban spake to Jacob, And on the fifteenth of those days Jacob made a feast for Laban, and for all who came with him,

וישבע יעקב ללבן ביום ההוא ולבן ליעקב אם יעבור איש אל רעהו את הר הגלעד לרעה:

and Jacob sware to Laban that day, and Laban also to Jacob, that neither should cross the mountain of Gilead to the other with evil purpose.

ויעש שם גל אבנים גדול לעד על כן קרא שם המקום ההוא גלעד כגל הזה:

And he made there a heap for a witness; wherefore the name of that place is called: "The Heap of Witness," after this heap.

אולם לפנים קראו שם ארץ הגלעד ארץ רפאים כי היא היתה ארץ הרפאים:

But before they used to call the land of Gilead the land of the Rephaim; for it was the land of the Rephaim,

ויולדו שם הרפאים הענקים וקומתם מעשר עד תשע עד שמונה ועד שבע אמות:

and the Rephaim were born (there), giants whose height was ten, nine, eight down to seven cubits.

ומושבותיהם מארץ האמורי עד הר חרמון וטירותיהם חורוניים ועשתרות ואדרעי ומישור ובעון:

And their habitation was from the land of the children of Ammon to Mount Hermon, and the seats of their kingdom were Karnaim and Ashtaroth, and Edrei, and Mîsûr, and Beon.

וישמידם ה' מפני רעת מעשיהם כי תועבה עשו ויעזבו את הארץ אל האמורי לשבת תחתיהם עם רעים וחטאים:

And the Lord destroyed them because of the evil of their deeds; for they were very malignant, and the Amorites dwelt in their stead, wicked and sinful, and there is no people to-day which hath wrought to the full all their sins,

ואין היום עם אחר אשר עשה ככל חטאתיהם על כן לא האריכו ימים על הארץ:

and they have no longer length of life on the earth.

וישלח יעקב את לבן לארם נהרים אל ארץ הקדם ויעקב שם את פניו ארץ הגלעד ויעבור את יבוק בחודש התשיעי בעשתי עשר בו:

And Jacob sent away Laban, and he departed into Mesopotamia, the land of the East, and Jacob returned to the land of Gilead. And he passed over the Jabbok in the ninth month, on the eleventh thereof.


וביום ההוא בא אליו עשו אחיו ויעשו שלום ביניהם ויסע ממנו לארץ שעיר ויעקב ישב בסוכות:

And on that day Esau, his brother, came to him, and he was reconciled to him, and departed from him unto the land of Seir, but Jacob dwelt in tents.

ובשנה הראשונה לשבוע החמישי ליובל ההוא עבר את הירדן וישב מעבר השני לירדן וירעה את מקנהו מארץ הגלעד עד בית שאן ודותן ועקרבים:

And in the first year of the fifth week in this jubilee he crossed the Jordan, and dwelt beyond the Jordan, and he pastured his sheep from the sea of the heap unto Bethshan, and unto Dothan and unto the forest of Akrabbim.

וישלח אל יצחק אביו מכל רכושו בגד ולחם ובשר ומשקה וחלב ושמן וגבינה ומכל התמרים אשר בעמק:

And he sent to his father Isaac of all his substance, clothing, and food, and meat, and drink, and milk, and butter, and cheese, and some dates of the valley,

וגם אל רבקה אמו שלח ארבע פעמים בשנה בין תקופת הירחים בין החריש ובין הקציר בין אביב לגשם בין חורף לקיץ:

And to his mother Rebecca also four times a year, between the times of the months, between ploughing and reaping, and between autumn and the rain (season) and between winter and spring,

וישב במגדל אברהם כי שב יצחק מבאר שבע ויעל אל מגדל אברהם אביו וישב שם בלי עשו בנו:

to the tower of Abraham. For Isaac had returned from the Well of the Oath and gone up to the tower of his father Abraham, and he dwelt there apart from his son Esau.


בימים ההם כאשר נסע יעקב פדנה ארם לקח עשו את מחלת בת ישמעאל לו לאשה:

For in the days when Jacob went to Mesopotamia, Esau took to himself a wife Mahalath, the daughter of Ishmael,

ויאסוף את כל מקנה אביו ואת נשיו ויעל וישב בהר שעיר ויעזוב את יצחק אביו לבדו בבאר שבע:

and he gathered together all the flocks of his father and his wives, and went up and dwelt on Mount Seir, and left Isaac his father at the Well of the Oath alone.

ויעל יצחק מבאר שבע וישב במגדל אברהם אביו בהר חברון:

And Isaac went up from the Well of the Oath and dwelt in the tower of Abraham his father on the mountains of Hebron,

ושמה שלח יעקב את כל אשר שלח לאביו ולאמו מעת לעת כל מחסורם ויברכו את יעקב בכל לבבם ובכל נפשם:

And thither Jacob sent all that he did send to his father and his mother from time to time, all they needed, and they blessed Jacob with all their heart and with all their soul.
