1 Et dans la 1e année de la 1e semaine du 42e jubilé, Abraham retourna et habita à l’opposé d’Hebron qui est Kirjath Arba, durant 2 semaines d’années.
2 Et dans la 1e année de la 3e semaine de ce jubilé, les jours de la vie de Sarah étaient accomplis et elle mourut à Hebron et Abraham alla pleurer sur elle et l’enterrer.
3 Et nous l’éprouvâmes [pour voir] si son souffle était patient et s’il n’était pas indigné avec les paroles de sa bouche et en cela il a été trouvé patient et n’était pas troublé.
4 Il dialogua avec les enfants de Heth avec patience de souffle dans l’intention qu’ils lui donnent un endroit où enterrer sa morte.
5 Et 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) lui donna grâce devant tous ceux qui le voyaient et il sollicita avec gentillesse les fils de Heth et ils lui donnèrent la terre de la double cave en face de Mamre qui est Hebron, contre 400 pièces d’argent.
6 Et ils le sollicitèrent en disant : Nous te le donnerons pour rien. Mais il ne voulait pas le prendre de leurs mains pour rien, alors il donna le prix de l’endroit, l’argent au complet, et il s’inclina devant eux deux fois, et après cela il enterra sa morte dans la double cave.
7 Et tous les jours de la vie de Sarah étaient de 127 ans, qui sont 2 jubilés et 4 semaines et 1 an ; ce sont les jours des années de la vie de Sarah.
8 C’était la 10e fois qu’Abraham se faisait éprouvé et qu’il fut trouvé fidèle et patient de souffle. Et il ne dit pas un seul mot de la rumeur quant au pays qu'Elohim avait dit qu’Il le donnerait à lui et à sa semence après lui et il sollicita là un endroit pour enterrer sa morte, car il avait été trouvé fidèle et fut inscrit comme un ami d'Elohim sur les tablettes célestes.
9 Et dans la 4e année il prit une femme pour son fils Isaac et son nom était Rébecca [fille de Bethuel, fils de Nahor frère d’Abraham], sœur de Laban et fille de Bethuel. Et Bethuel était le fils de Melca qui était la femme de Nahor le frère d’Abraham.
10 Et Abraham prit pour lui une 3e femme parmi les filles des serviteurs domestiques et son nom était Keturah, car Hagar était morte avant Sarah.
11 Et dans la 2e semaine d’années elle lui porta 6 fils, Zimram et Jokshan et Medan et Midian et Ishbak et Shuah.
12 Et dans la 2e année de la 6e semaine Rébecca porta à Isaac 2 fils, Jacob et Esau, et Jacob était un homme doux et juste et Esau était chevelu et impétueux, un homme de terrain, et Jacob habitait dans les tentes.
13 Et les jeunes grandirent et Jacob apprit à écrire mais Esau n’apprit pas, car il était un homme de terrain et un chasseur et il apprenait la guerre et toutes ses actions étaient impulsives.
14 Et Abraham aimait Jacob mais Isaac aimait Esau et Abraham vit les actions de Esau et il savait qu’en Jacob son nom et semence seraient appelés et il appela Rébecca et lui donna instruction pour Jacob, car il savait qu’elle [aussi] aimait Jacob beaucoup plus qu’Esau.
13 Et les jeunes grandirent et Jacob apprit à écrire mais Esau n’apprit pas, car il était un homme de terrain et un chasseur et il apprenait la guerre et toutes ses actions étaient impulsives.
14 Et Abraham aimait Jacob mais Isaac aimait Esau et Abraham vit les actions de Esau et il savait qu’en Jacob son nom et semence seraient appelés et il appela Rébecca et lui donna instruction pour Jacob, car il savait qu’elle [aussi] aimait Jacob beaucoup plus qu’Esau.
15 Et il lui dit : Ma fille, garde mon fils Jacob, car il sera à ma place sur la terre et en bénédiction au milieu des enfants des hommes et une gloire pour toute la semence de Shem.
16 Car je sais que 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) le choisira comme possession pour lui-même, pour être un peuple au-dessus de tous les peuples qui sont à la surface de la terre.
17 Et voici, Isaac mon fils aime Esau plus que Jacob, mais je vois que tu aimes véritablement Jacob.
18 Ajoute encore de ta bonté vis-à-vis de lui et que tes yeux soient sur lui amour, car il sera pour nous une bénédiction sur la terre dès maintenant jusque dans les générations entières de la terre.
19 Que tes mains soient fortes et que ton cœur se réjouisse dans ton fils Jacob, car je l’ai aimé plus que tous mes fils, il sera béni pour toujours et sa semence remplira la terre entière.
20 Si un homme peut compter le sable de la mer, sa semence sera aussi comptée. Et toutes les bénédictions par lesquelles 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) m’a béni moi et ma semence reviendront à Jacob et sa semence à toujours et par sa semence mon nom sera béni et le nom de mes pères Shem et Noah et Henoc et Mahalalel et Enos et Seth et Adam et ils serviront à poser les fondements du ciel et à fortifier la terre et à renouveler tous les luminaires qui sont dans le firmament.
21 Et il fit venir Jacob sous les yeux de Rébecca sa mère et l’embrassa et le bénit et dit : Jacob mon fils bien-aimé que mon âme aime, qu'Elohim au-dessus du firmament te bénisse et qu’il te donne toutes les bénédictions avec lesquelles il bénit Adam et Henoc et Noah et Shem et que toutes les choses qu’Il m’a dites et toutes les choses qu’il a promises de me donner, qu’il les fasse s’attacher à toi et à ta semence à toujours suivant les jours du ciel au-dessus de la terre.
22 Et que les souffles de mastema ne dominent pas sur toi ou sur ta semence pour vous détourner de 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) qui est ton Elohim à compter de maintenant et pour toujours et qu'Elohim soit un père pour toi et toi le fils premier-né et pour le peuple à jamais. Va en paix mon fils !
23 Et tous deux quittèrent ensemble Abraham, et Rébecca aimait Jacob de tout son cœur et de toute sa force beaucoup plus qu’Esau, mais Isaac aimait Esau beaucoup plus que Jacob.

ובשנה הראשונה לשבוע הראשון ליובל השניים וארבעים שב אברהם וישב נוכח חברון היא קרית ארבע:
And in the first year of the first week in the forty-second jubilee, Abraham returned and dwelt opposite Hebron, that is Kirjath Arba,
בשבוע השני בשנה השלישית ליובל ההוא מלאו ימי חיי שרה ותמת בחברון וילך אברהם לבכותה ולקברה:
two weeks of years.
And in the first year of the third week of this jubilee the days of the life of Sarah were accomplished, and she died in Hebron.
And Abraham went to mourn over her and bury her,

וננסה אותו אם נאמנה רוחו ולא יוציא דבר מרי מפיו ויצא נכון לב גם בדבר הזה:
and we tried him [to see] if his spirit were patient and he were not indignant in the words of his mouth; and he was found patient in this, and was not disturbed.
ותשב באיתן רוחו וידבר בלב נכון אל בני חת לתת לו מקום לקבור שמה את מתו מלפניו:
For in patience of spirit he conversed with the children of Heth, to the intent that they should give him a place in which to bury his dead.
ויתן ה' את חינו בעיני כל רואיו וישתחו לבני חת ויחל את פניהם ויתנו לו את שדה מערת המכפלה נוכח ממרא היא חברון בארבעים שקל כסף:
And the Lord gave him grace before all who saw him, and he besought in gentleness the sons of Heth, and they gave him the land of the double cave over against Mamre, that is Hebron, for four hundred pieces of silver.
ויבקשו אותו לאמור נתון נתן לך את המקום חינם אין כסף וימאן לקחתו מאתם חינם כי אם שקל במחיר המקום כסף טוב וישתחו לפניהם פעמיים:
And they besought him, saying, "We shall give it to thee for nothing"; but he would not take it from their hands for nothing, for he gave the price of the place, the money in full, and he bowed down before them twice;
ואחרי כן קבר את מתו במערת המכפלה:
and after this he buried his dead in the double cave.
ויהיו כל ימי חיי שרה מאה שנה ועשרים שנה ושבע שנים הלא המה שני יובלים וארבעה שבועים ושנה אחת אלה שני חיי שרה:
And all the days of the life of Sarah were one hundred and twenty-seven years, that is, two jubilees and four weeks and one year: these are the days of the years of the life of Sarah.
וזאת היתה המסה העשירית אשר נוסה אברהם בה וימצא נאמן ונכון רוח:
This is the tenth trial wherewith Abraham was tried, and he was found faithful, patient in spirit.
ולא דיבר מאומה כי אמר ה' אליו לתת לו ולזרעו אחריו את הארץ כי אם ביקש מקום שם קבר לקבור את מתו:
And he said not a single word regarding the rumour in the land how that God had said that He would give it to him and to his seed after him, and he begged a place there to bury his dead;
וככה נמצא נאמן ונכון רוח ויכתב לידיד ה' על לוחות השמים:
for he was found faithful, and was recorded on the heavenly tables as the friend of God.
ובשנה הרביעית בו לקח לבנו ליצחק אשה ושמה רבקה בת בתואל בן נחור אחי אברהם:
And in the fourth year thereof he took a wife for his son Isaac and her name was Rebecca [the daughter of Bethuel, the son of Nahor, the brother of Abraham] the sister of Laban and daughter of Bethuel; and Bethuel was the son of Mêlcâ, who was the wife of Nahor, the brother of Abraham.
ויקח אברהם אשה שלישית ושמה קטורה מילידי עבדי ביתו כי מתה הגר לפני שרה:
And Abraham took to himself a third wife, and her name was Keturah, from among the daughters of his household servants, for Hagar had died before Sarah.
ותלד לו ששה בנים את זמרן ואת יקשן את מדין ואת ישבק ואת שוח בשני שבועות שנים:
And she bare him six sons, Zimram, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak, and Shuah, in the two weeks of years.
בשנה השניה לשבוע הששי ילדה רבקה ליצחק שני בנים יעקב ועשו:
And in the sixth week, in the second year thereof, Rebecca bare to Isaac two sons, Jacob and Esau,
ויהי יעקב איש תם ועשו היה יודע עבודה איש שדה ואיש שעיר ויעקב יושב אוהלים:
and Jacob was a smooth and upright man, and Esau was fierce, a man of the field, and hairy, and Jacob dwelt in tents.
ויגדלו הנערים ויהי עשו איש שדה יודע ציד וילמד ידיו לקרב ולכל מלאכת עבודה:
And the youths grew, and Jacob learned to write; but Esau did not learn, for he was a man of the field and a hunter, and he learnt war, and all his deeds were fierce.
ויאהב אברהם את יעקב ויצחק אוהב את עשו:
And Abraham loved Jacob, but Isaac loved Esau.
וירא אברהם את מעשה עשו וידע כי ביעקב יקרא לו שם וזרע:
And Abraham saw the deeds of Esau, and he knew that in Jacob should his name and seed be called;
ויקרא לרבקה ויצו אותה על דבר יעקב בראותו כי גם היא אוהבת את יעקב מעשו:
and he called Rebecca and gave commandment regarding Jacob, for he knew that she (too) loved Jacob much more than Esau.
ויאמר אליה בתי נצרי את בני את יעקב כי הוא יהיה תחתי לברכה בקרב בני אדם על הארץ ולכל זרעו לשם ולתהילה:
And he said unto her: "My daughter, watch over my son Jacob, For he shall be in my stead on the earth, And for a blessing in the midst of the children of men, And for the glory of the whole seed of Shem.
כי ידעתי אשר יבחר בו ה' לעם ויפלה אותו מכל אשר על פני הארץ:
For I know that the Lord will choose him to be a people for possession unto Himself, above all peoples that are upon the face of the earth.
והנה בני יצחק אוהב את עשו מיעקב ועיני הרואות כי באמנה תאהבי את יעקב:
And behold, Isaac my son loveth Esau more than Jacob, but I see that thou truly lovest Jacob.
ועתה עשי אך טוב לו והוא יהיה לידיד לבך כי הוא יהיה לי לברכה על הארץ מעתה ועד כל דורות עולמים:
Add still further to thy kindness to him, And let thine eyes be upon him in love; For he will be a blessing unto us on the earth from henceforth unto all generations of the earth.
תחזקנה ידיך ועלזי בבנך ביעקב כי אותו אוהב מכל בני כי היה יהיה ברוך לעולם וזרעו יהיה מלא כל הארץ:
Let thy hands be strong And let thy heart rejoice in thy son Jacob; For I have loved him far beyond all my sons. He will be blessed for ever, And his seed will fill the whole earth.
כי כאשר אם יוכל איש למנות את עפר הארץ גם זרעו ימנה:
If a man can number the sand of the earth, His seed also will be numbered.
וכל הברכות אשר ברך ה' אותי ואת זרעי תהיינה גם ליעקב ולזרעו לנחלה כל הימים:
And all the blessings wherewith the Lord hath blessed me and my seed shall belong to Jacob and his seed alway.
ונברך בזרעו שמי ושם אבותי שם ונוח וחנוך ומהללאל ושת והאדם:
And in his seed shall my name be blessed, and the name of my fathers, Shem, and Noah, and Enoch, and Mahalalel, and Enos, and Seth, and Adam.
היה יהיו לנטוע שמים וליסוד ארץ ולחדש המאורות אשר ברקיע השמים:
And these shall serve To lay the foundations of the heaven, And to strengthen the earth, And to renew all the luminaries which are in the firmament."
ויקרא אל יעקב לעיני רבקה אמו וישק לו ויברך אותו לאמור:
And he called Jacob before the eyes of Rebecca his mother, and kissed him, and blessed him, and said:
בני יקירי יעקב שאהבה נפשי יברכך אלוהים ממרום רקיע השמים ויתן לך את כל הברכות אשר ברך את האדם את חנוך ואת נוח ואת שם:
"Jacob, my beloved son, whom my soul loveth, may God bless thee from above the firmament, and may He give thee all the blessings wherewith He blessed Adam, and Enoch, and Noah, and Shem;
ואת כל אשר דבר אתי ואת כל אשר נשבע לתת אך לי תבואתה לראשך ולקדקד זרעך עד עולם כל ימי השמים על הארץ:
and all the things of which He told me, and all the things which He promised to give me, may He cause to cleave to thee and to thy seed for ever, according to the days of heaven above the earth.
ולא ימשלו בך ובזרעך מלאכי משטמה להסיר את לבך מן ה' אלוהיך מעתה ועד עולם:
And the spirits of Mastêmâ shall not rule over thee or over thy seed to turn thee from the Lord, who is thy God from henceforth for ever.
וה יהיה לך לאלוהים ולאב ואתה תהיה לו בנו בכורו ועם סגולתו כל הימים לך בני לשלום:
And may the Lord God be a father to thee and thou the first-born son, and to the people alway. Go in peace, my son."
וילכו כולם יחדו מאת פני אברהם:
And they both went forth together from Abraham.
ותאהב רבקה את יעקב בכל לבבה ובכל נפשה והרבה יתר מעשו ויצחק אהב את עשו הרבה יתר מיעקב:
And Rebecca loved Jacob, with all her heart and with all her soul, very much more than Esau; but Isaac loved Esau much more than Jacob.
