1 Et Abram voyagea à partir de Haran et prit Saraї sa femme et Lot le fils de son frère Haran vers le pays de Canaan et il arriva à Asshur et passa par Shechem et habita près d’un grand chêne.
2 Et il regarda et voici la terre était très plaisante de l’entrée de Hamath jusqu’au grand chêne.
Et 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) lui dit : Je donnerai ce pays à toi et à ta semence.
3 Et il construisit là un autel et y offrit des sacrifices au feu à 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) qui lui était apparu.
4 Et de là il se déplaça vers la montagne (…). Bethel à l’OUEST et Ai à l’EST et piqua sa tente là.
5 Et il regarda et voici la terre était très grande et bonne et toute chose y poussait, vignes et figues et grenades, chênes et chênes verts et pistachiers et arbres pour huile, et cèdres et cyprès et dattiers et tous les arbres des champs, et il y avait de l’eau sur les montagnes.
6 Et il bénit 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) qui l’avait conduit hors d’Ur de Chaldée et l’avait amené sur cette terre.

5 Et il regarda et voici la terre était très grande et bonne et toute chose y poussait, vignes et figues et grenades, chênes et chênes verts et pistachiers et arbres pour huile, et cèdres et cyprès et dattiers et tous les arbres des champs, et il y avait de l’eau sur les montagnes.
6 Et il bénit 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) qui l’avait conduit hors d’Ur de Chaldée et l’avait amené sur cette terre.
7 Et cela arriva dans la 1e année de la 7e semaine, à la tête du 1er mois il construisit un autel sur cette montagne et la nomma du nom de 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) Toi l'Elohim éternel est mon Elohim.
8 Et il offrit sur l’autel un sacrifice au feu pour 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) pour qu’Il soit avec lui et ne l’abandonne pas tous les jours de sa vie.

9 Et il se déplaça de là et alla vers le SUD et il vint à Hebron.
10 Hebron était construit dans ce temps et il y habita 2 ans puis il s’en alla vers la terre du SUD, vers Bealoth, car il y avait une famine sur la terre.
11 Et Abram alla en Égypte dans la 3e année de la semaine, et il habita en Égypte 5 ans avant que sa femme lui fut enlevée.
12 Dans ce temps Tanais en Égypte avait été construite 7 ans après Hebron.
10 Hebron était construit dans ce temps et il y habita 2 ans puis il s’en alla vers la terre du SUD, vers Bealoth, car il y avait une famine sur la terre.
11 Et Abram alla en Égypte dans la 3e année de la semaine, et il habita en Égypte 5 ans avant que sa femme lui fut enlevée.
12 Dans ce temps Tanais en Égypte avait été construite 7 ans après Hebron.
13 Et cela arriva alors que Pharaon avait saisit Saraї la femme d’Abram, 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) frappa Pharaon et sa maison de grandes plaies à cause de Saraї la femme d’Abram.
14 Et Abram était très brillant en conséquence des moutons et bétail et ânes et chevaux et chameaux, et serviteurs et servantes, et en argent et or, excessivement.
15 Et Lot aussi le fils de son frère était riche.

16 Et Pharaon rendit Saraї la femme d’Abram et le renvoya hors du pays d’Égypte, et il voyagea vers l’endroit où il avait piqué sa tente au début, à l’endroit de l’autel, ayant Ai à l’EST et Bethel à l’OUEST, et il bénit 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) son Elohim qui l’avait ramené en paix.
17 Et cela arriva dans la 3e année de la 1e semaine du 41e jubilé, il retourna à cet endroit et offrit un sacrifice au feu et il appela le Nom de 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) et dit : Toi le Plus-haut Elohim est mon Elohim pour toujours et à jamais !
18 Et dans la 4e année de cette semaine, Lot se sépara de lui et habita à Sodom, et les hommes de Sodom étaient extrêmement pécheurs.
19 Et il fut attristé dans son cœur que le fils de son frère le quitte, car il n’avait pas d’enfant.
20 Et Abram alla à Hebron et y habita. Et dans cette année vint Chedorlaomer roi d’Elam et Amraphael roi de Shinar et Arioch roi de Sellsar et Tergal roi des nations et ils frappèrent le roi de Gomorrah.
21 Le roi de Sodom prit la fuite et beaucoup tombèrent des blessures dans la vallée de Siddim à la mer salée.
22 Et ils prirent captifs Sodom et Admah et Zeboim et ils prirent aussi Lot captif, le fils du frère d’Abram et toutes ses possessions, et ils allèrent à Dan.
23 Et celui qui s’échappa vint et dit à Abram que le fils de son frère avait été pris captif et [Abram] arma les serviteurs de sa maison. […]
24 Et le roi de Sodom vint vers lui et s’agenouilla devant lui et dit : Notre seigneur Abram, donne-nous les âmes que tu as sauvées et que le butin soit à toi !
25 Et Abram lui dit : Je lève mes mains vers le Plus-haut Elohim que je ne prendrais même pas un fil de lacet de chaussure de ce qui est à toi pour que tu ne dises pas : J’ai rendu Abram riche.
26 Épargne seulement ce que les jeunes hommes ont mangé, et pour la portion des hommes qui sont venus avec moi, Aner, Eschol et Mamre - eux prendront leur part.
27 Pour Abram et pour sa semence, le 10e des premiers-fruits à 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH), et 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) ordonna cela comme une ordonnance pour toujours qu’ils devraient le donner aux sacrificateurs qui servent devant Lui afin qu’ils le possèdent pour toujours.
28 Et à cette loi il n’y a pas de limite de jours, car il l’a ordonné pour les générations pour toujours qu’ils doivent donner à 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) le 10e de toute chose, de la semence et de la vigne et de l’huile et de bétail et de mouton.
29 Et il [le] donna aux sacrificateurs pour manger et boire dans la joie devant lui.
30 Dans l’année que Lot fut pris captif, 𐤉𐤄𐤅𐤄 (YHWH) dit à Abram après que Lot le quitta, dans la 4e année de cette semaine : Lève tes yeux de l’endroit où tu habites, du NORD au SUD et de l’OUEST à l’EST, car toute la terre que tu vois Je te la donnerai à toi et ta semence pour toujours et Je rendrai ta semence comme le sable de la mer : Penser qu’un homme puisse compter la poussière de la terre, même encore ta semence ne pourra être dénombré.
31 Lève-toi, marche [à travers le pays] dans sa longueur et sa largeur et regarde tout, car à ta semence je donnerai cela.

ויצא אברם מחרן ויקח את שרי אשתו ואת לוט בן הרן אחיו אתו ארצה כנען:
And Abram journeyed from Haran, and he took Sarai, his wife, and Lot his brother Haran's son, to the land of Canaan, and he came into Asshur,
ויבוא ויעבור עד מקום שכם עד אלון רם:
and proceeded to Shechem, and dwelt near a lofty oak.
And he saw, and, behold, the land was very pleasant from the entering of Hamath to the lofty oak.

ויאמר ה' אליו לך ולזרעך אתן את הארץ הזאת ויבן שם מזבח ויעל עליו אשה לה הנראה אליו:
And the Lord said to him: "To thee and to thy seed will I give this land."
And he built an altar there, and he offered thereon a burnt sacrifice to the Lord, who had appeared to him.

ויעתק משם ההרה בית אל מים והעי ויט אהלה:
And he removed from thence unto the mountain . . . Bethel on the west and Ai on the east, and pitched his tent there.
וירא כי טובה הארץ ורחבת ידים מאוד וכי כל בה:
And he saw and behold, the land was very wide and good, and everything grew thereon
גפן ותאנה ורמון ואלה ועצים רעננים ואלונים וזיתים וארזים וברושים ועצי הלבנון וכל עצי השדה וכי כולה משקה בהריה:
--vines and figs and pomegranates, oaks and ilexes, and terebinths and oil trees, and cedars and cypresses and date trees, and all trees of the field, and there was water on the mountains.
ויברך את ה' אשר הביאו מאור כשדים אל ההר הזה:
And he blessed the Lord who had led him out of Ur of the Chaldees, and had brought him to this land.
ויהי בשנה הראשונה בשבוע השביעי באחד לחודש הראשון ויבן מזבח על ההר הזה ויקרא בשם ה' אתה אלי אלהי עולם:
And it came to pass in the first year, in the seventh week, on the new moon of the first month, that he built an altar on this mountain, and called on the name of the Lord: "Thou, the eternal God, art my God."
ויעל על המזבח אשה לה למען יהיה עמו ולא יעזבהו כל ימי חייו:
And he offered on the altar a burnt sacrifice unto the Lord that He should be with him and not forsake him all the days of his life.
ויקם משם ויסע ויבוא עד חברון וחברון נבנתה אז וישב שם שנתים ימים בארץ הנגב עד בוא לוט ויהי רעב בארץ:
And he removed from thence and went towards the south, and he came to Hebron, and Hebron was built at, that time, and he dwelt there two years, and he went (thence) into the land of the south, to Bealoth and there was a famine in the land.
ויסע אברם מצרימה בשנה השלישית לשבוע ויגר במצרים חמש שנים לפני הלקח אשתו ממנו:
And Abram went into Egypt in the third year of the week, and he dwelt in Egypt five years before his wife was torn away from him.
וצוען מצרים נבנתה אז שבע שנים אחרי חברון:
NOW Tanais in Egypt was at that time built--seven years after Hebron.
ויהי כאשר לקח פרעה את שרי אשת אברם וינגע ה' את פרעה ואת כל ביתו בנגעים גדולים על דבר שרי אשת אברם:
And it came to pass when Pharaoh seized Sarai, the wife of Abram, that the Lord plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Abram's wife.
ואברם כבד מאוד בצאן ובבקר ובחמורים ובסוסים ובגמלים ובעבדים ובשפחות ובכסף ובזהב עד מאוד:
And Abram was very glorious by reason of possessions in sheep, and cattle, and asses, and horses, and camels, and menservants, and maidservants, and in silver and gold exceedingly.
וגם לוט בן אחיו היה כבד:
And Lot also, his brother's son, was wealthy.
ויהי כאשר השיב פרעה את שרי אשתו ויעתק מארץ מצרים ויבוא אל מקום אשר מקדם לבית אל ויברך את ה' אלהיו אשר השיבהו בשלום:
And Pharaoh gave back Sarai, the wife of Abram, and he sent him out of the land of Egypt, and he journeyed to the place where he had pitched his tent at the beginning, to the place of the altar, with Ai on the east, and Bethel on the west, and he blessed the Lord his God who had brought him back in peace.
ויהי ביובל האחד וארבעים בשנה השלישית לשבוע הראשון וישוב אל המקום ההוא ויעל שם אשֶה ויקרא בשם ה' ויאמר ה' אל עליון אלהי אתה לעולם:
And it came to pass in the forty-first jubilee, in the third year of the first week, that he returned to this place and offered thereon a burnt sacrifice, and called on the name of the Lord, and said: "Thou, the most high God, art my God for ever and ever."
ובשנה הרביעית לשבוע נפרד לוט מעמו:
And in the fourth year of this week Lot parted from him,
ולוט ישב בסדום ואנשי סדום רעים מאוד:
and Lot dwelt in Sodom, and the men of Sodom were sinners exceedingly.
ויתעצב אל לבו כי נפרד בן אחיו מעמו כי לא היו לו בנים:
And it grieved him in his heart that his brother's son had parted from him; for he had no children.
ויהי השנה ההיא לשבוע הזה כאשר נשבה לוט ויאמר ה' אל אברם אחרי הפרד לוט מעמו לאמור:
In that year when Lot was taken captive, the Lord said unto Abram, after that Lot had parted from him, in the fourth year of this week:
שא נא עיניך וראה מן המקום אשר אתה שם:
And it came to pass when Pharaoh seized Sarai, the wife of Abram, that the Lord plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai, Abram's wife.
ויסע אברם חברונה וישב שם:
And Abram went to Hebron, and dwelt there.
ובשנה ההיא בא כדרלעמר מלך עילם ואמרפל מלך שנער ואריוך מלך אלסר ותדעל מלך הגוים:
And in this year came Chedorlaomer, king of Elam, and Amraphel, king of Shinar, and Arioch, king of Sêllâsar and Têrgâl, king of nations,
ויכו את מלך עמורה וינס מלך סדום ורבים נפלו פצועים בשדים בארץ המלח בסדום באדמה ובצבוים:
and slew the king of Gomorrah, and the king of Sodom fled, and many fell through wounds in the vale of Siddim, by the Salt Sea.
And they took captive Sodom and Adam and Zeboim,

ויישבו את לוט בן אחי אברם ואת כל רכושו ויסעו עד דן:
and they took captive Lot also, the son of Abram's brother, and all his possessions, and they went to Dan.
ויבוא הפליט ויגד לאברם כי נשבה בן אחיו:
And one who had escaped came and told Abram that his brother's son
ויביא עבדו זקן ביתו את מעשר הביכורים לה לכפר בעד אברם ובעד זרעו:
had been taken captive and (Abram) armed his household servants.
וישימה אלהים לחוק עולם לתת אותו אל הכהנים המשרתים את פניו לרשת אותו עד עולם:
for Abram, and for his seed, a tenth of the first-fruits to the Lord, and the Lord ordained it as an ordinance for ever that they should give it to the priests who served before Him, that they should possess it for ever.
והחוק הזה לא לימים הוא כי אם לדורות עולם שם אותו לתת לה מעשר זרע ויין ושמן ובקר וצאן:
And to this law there is no limit of days; for He hath ordained it for the generations for ever that they should give to the Lord the tenth of everything, of the seed and of the wine and of the oil and of the cattle and of the sheep.
ויתן אותו אל כהניו לאכול ולשתות ממנו בשמחה לפניו:
And He gave (it) unto His priests to eat and to drink with joy before Him.
ויבוא אליו מלך סדום וישתחו לפניו ויאמר אדוני אברם תן לי הנפש אשר הצלת והשלל יהי לך:
And the king of Sodom came to him and bowed himself before him, and said: "Our Lord Abram, give unto us the souls which thou hast rescued, but let the booty be thine."
ויאמר אברם אליו הרימותי ידי אל אל אליון:
And Abram said unto him: "I lift up my hands to the Most High God,
אם מחוט ועד שרוך נעל ואם אקח מכל אשר לך ולא תאמר אני העשרתי את אברם:
that from a thread to a shoe-latchet I shall not take aught that is thine, lest thou shouldst say I have made Abram rich;
בלעדי רק אשר אכלו הנערים והאנשים אשר הלכו אתי עונן אשכל וממרא הם יקחו חלקם:
save only what the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men who went with me--Aner, Eschol, and Mamre. These will take their portion."
